Notre Dame / ACC

If they had not moved OU down to 4, MSU would have been #4. The Spartans had a much better record than ND, even if the Irish had beaten Stanford. So, ND would still be out.

Of course MSU would be #4. My point was as to why MSU passed OU. Had nothing to do with ND.

But didn't you say earlier that ND would have jumped over OU into the playoff if they both finished 11-1? I'm saying that they wouldn't have.

Two points were made.

1) Alsacs said MSU passed OU because they went 12-1 to MSU's 11-1. My view (just a theory I know it's not a fact) is that part of the reasoning for MSU passing OU is the Committee did not want OU at #3 playing down in Dallas where they would have had a big advantage in terms of the crowd.

2) ND dropped from 4 to 6 because of a very poor game against BC. That's a fact. I believe if ND had taken care of business against BC (and not had 5 TOs in BC territory) they would have stayed at #4 and a win over Stanford would have kept them there ahead of OU. OU's loss to Texas would have been a killer for them. We'll never know.

Remember last year--OSU jumped a couple of places because they throttled Wisconsin. I think Oklahoma's romp over the other OSU in Stillwater would have yielded the same result. But, to quote a sage, "we'll never know". :)

I hear ya. Pure conjecture.

Ironically OU climbed several spots for beating TCU and their backup QB on a failed two point conversion in Norman. I don't get why OU is favored over Clemson.
