Nova Lost to Richmond over the weekend

BUT VILLANOVA IS A "GREAT" FCS TEAM. THEY HAD EVERY RIGHT BEING IN THAT GAME. HUNDREDS OF DIVISION 1 TEAMS WOULD LOSE OR GET A SCARE FROM THEM.

Take your gripe up with Shafer and the staff.

I'm sure they'd like to hear your thoughts.

I forgot, this is a syracuse message board and were only allowed to wear orange colored glasses here. Truth hurts, hit me after the Maryland game.

Truth is, SU is on par with every team in the Northeast - Maryland, Rutgers, Penn State, Pitt and BC.

Not much separation between them this year.

You kidding me? Maryland toyed with us. Game was never really in doubt. There not that much better then us and yet it was over well before halftime. No injury excuses there. Care to explain?

How about the excuse of no hunt in the nova game? Also an extremely undisciplined reaction that is respresentative of the respect the coaches get. The dead ball penalties and personal foul penalties are a direct reflection of poor leadership.

Seriously?

We had almost 600 yards of offense against Maryland.

Mistakes cost us that game - like a lot of games.

I get it, you don't like the coaches.

Send a letter to Gross.

I just want to see one example of how these coaches won us a game with their gameplan or gameday coaching? What is there best win? We seem to get dominated by better teams, beat by equals, and barely win against inferior teams.

And what good is 600 yards of offense when you only score 20 points (7 of which were scored with 48 seconds left). What good is 600 yards when your down 31-13 at halftime and 34-13 in the fourth quarter, playing catch up? Maryland played not to lose in the second half, they didn't need to do anything crazy in the second half.

Lol someone likening a post about 600 yards of offense in a game we were down 34-13 with a minute left in the fourth quarter. Only a syracuse fan

So can we please stop justifying that 2OT win over the "best FCS team"?

They're not even the best FCS team in the Colonial Athletic Association.

'Nova had become the new, but likeable Rutgirls of the Board.

Not to call anybody out, because I honestly didn't pay attention to who made the threads, but if 'Nova had won the game there'd be a thread about them winning right after the game. It's the most embarrassing win in program history, way worse than Toledo.

Tulane was close.

Good lord, more of this .

For anyone not understanding my Rutgersal fairy dust thread, comments like this or worse was the impetus for that thread.

Tulane was incredibly close. We've had a few games like that against similar opponents over the last 5 years or so.

We lost. It's even worse how badly we lost given the amount of yards we gained, which means that if we had gained an avg amount of yards for our team this year we would have been absolutely dominated. We are on par with Maryland...Unreal.

I don't think you watched the game.

It came down to 2 big offensive plays and a pick 6. And our inability to turn 500 yds into TD's. They couldn't move the ball in the second half.

That's not dominating. We blew the game with mistakes - far more than they dominated anything. Their D is awful.

I didn't say they dominated us. I said that if we hadn't put up more yards than we typically do in a game we would have been dominated.

I just don't understand what people don't understand about losses. We lost. We have lost to teams that are traditionally our peers. We should have lost to a team that would typically be a practice game. We are not on par with our peers regardless of what some people want to believe.

1 - 2 games where we are in the game and lose because of a play or two, then you could argue we are better than our record. But that is not the case this year.

I was at the game, I think I missed two plays with beer fill-ups.

Wow. Watch the games...

You clearly didn't.

You are wrong. So if we had not put up a lot of yards they would have dominated us? Our D shut them down after the 1st half (and most of the 2nd quarter). We haven't been dominated by anyone. ND and FSU came the closest, because they have elite QB's and athletes at WR that we couldn't handle.

I'm not saying we've deserved to win all of these games. Scoreboard doesn't lie. I just get tired of the constant pounding of "we're horrible" - when that's clearly not true. Our D is good enough to win ACC games. It's our offense that has let us down. And injuries have been insane this season.

Richmond hung in there against NC St last year, beat every time they play them, won a national championship a few yrs ago

both Richmond and Villanova are decent

I'm not wrong. The game was over in the 2nd quarter, I was there, people were ready to leave before halftime (actually the couple next to us were gone before the 3rd Q started). If the roles were reversed we would be saying that we let up in the 2nd half and played a dumb down version of our offense and that's why MD's defense played so well in the 2nd half. It doesn't matter that our defense shut down the MD offense in the 2nd half, the game was over at that point. That's a moral victory.

And I've never said we are horrible, never once. People continue to miss my point regardless of how clearly I spell it out. It's ridiculous for people to act like we are on par with teams we lost too. We haven't beaten one solid team yet unless you count Villanova.
We have zero right to say we are on par with MD, BC, Pitt, or Rutgers. It's ludicrous. It's Rutgersal "USC of the East Coast" type talk, maybe a dumb down version but still just as ludicrous.

Hahahaha haven't missed a game in at least 10 years, watch every game. Live in buffao now so I can't make it up for every game like I used to (had season tickets for 20 years previously). I was at the Maryland game and people were honestly leaving at halftime, even more at the end of the third quarter. Maryland didn't need to do anything in the 2nd half to win. They were up 31-13. Did you want them to run the score up? Because they probably could have. I can't believe I just had to defend my fan hood. Take off the Orange glasses and look more closely at these games and stop making excuses. A loss is a loss, stop trying to justify it.
