what are the odds of getting a pure PG up in here?

and really good 1 & done lead guard types still uncommitted? what about SR transfers?

In 2016? The chances are extremely high.

assuming Bryant comes (and DC2's health) the roster next year looks to be a killer PG away from potential beast mode.

trust me, I want Battle but he wont be on campus in the fall. a 1 & done top flight kid or a 5th year transfer still keeps that spot open for Mamba...who from what I understand is also more of a combo guard but will be on the ball if/when he suits up for us.

Kaleb will improve, Mike will play some point from the 3 as well.

 You don't dance, gilardino? You don't do the mamba? The Kid Mamba?

Tyus "Kid Mamba" Battle. He plays basketball. Very well. We want him to take his talents to Central New York.
It's mambo. Or samba. :)
Mamba, however, is a snake. :):)
I made that mistake with the Victor Cruz gifs and people went with it. Reeled you in, bro ahahahaha, yeah!

Nah, it was a play on words. Mamba...mambo...same difference... I do remember your Cruz gif in the Battle thread. Gilardino strikes me as more of an electric slide guy, anyway.

Edit: Tee: I also remember that green snake pic you posted in the Battle thread.

PS: Should we print the 'Cuse is Battle-Ready tshirts now...or later?

Got you bro ;)

Kaleb, G and Howard got it covered

We know what G will bring to the table. I think G will handle the ball quite a bit. The key will be Kaleb-- getting stronger and more confident. Frankie is interesting, as he is a work in progress as a PG.

To me, the BJ transfer benefits Frankie, in that G might play more at the 3. Frankie is obviously down the depth chart but he could earn some minutes, since he brings a completely different dimension to Kaleb with his height and slashing ability.

I know some might not agree, but the thought of COONEY and G two 5th year seniors has me drooling.

I like the idea, both have some isolation ball g showed more then cooney this year, but we will see even more out of both next year.

I think Cooney is best suited to play the two, but I actually would tinker with the idea of him playing backup point some instead of G. Kindof like a gmac role. We don't necessarily need a backup driving pg after Kaleb, or a drive and kick backup point. Especially if Coleman and/or McCullough also become one on one scorers. We can live with them isolating inside and G isolating on the perimeter instead.

I just don't like G in a pg role, hes become to good of a scorer to waste on that now imo. He was used well as a pg to get some buckets here and there, but now as a go to guy who can score 10 points in 4-5 possessions very fast, hes more of a swing guard forward. Reguardless JB is going to let G do what he wants some as a senior, but his pro potential is sg imo.

Reguardless, I don't like BJ leaving before the nba draft and combines, and until G is officially coming back.
I can understand a extra year though to make the pros, and with the timing of march madness and shoping for a new team and all.

A couple of quick thoughts:

First of all, we're going to be under pretty significant scholarship restrictions in the very near future. It would appear [on paper] that this pair of roster attritions have cleared the way for Thomas Bryant to come on board, should he choose to do so.

I suppose that we could consider bringing in fifth year transfers, but who might those guys be?

And I don't think we can afford to take anybody who can't play next year, or would be here longer than one year potentially. Pending appeal, but we need to have our roster pared down to 10 players by 2016-2017.

And while I resonate with people who aren't pleased with what happened today with BJ / Patterson, because both seemed like great program kids, the fact remains that we need to shed scholarships to get down to the required 10 by 2016-2017. With Moyer [and potentially Battle] coming in 2016, that means that there needs to be attrition from the current roster.

It stinks in the sense that both BJ and Ron were coachable kids who could have contributed over the next two seasons. It sucks that the NCAA's excessive penalties adversely impacted a pair of kids who had zero to do with the infractions that we were penalized for.

But at the end of the day, we needed some attrition. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been room at the inn for Moyer, let alone anybody else. It sucks, but you can thank the NCAA for their draconian, overzealous imposition of excessive penalties for this.

If Malachi is shooting well from three then TC may not get as much playing time. Someone was saying since both G and TC graduate this spring that one or both of them may announce they are done. We may not be in the tournament but we certainly are not lacking any drama in the basketball program. This is like our own version of March Madness.

Even with 2 players leaving I am still counting 10 spots for 2015-16. When do the NCAA sanctions take effect? Even with three players leaving after the 2015-16 season we already have 10 spots filled. Am I reading this wrong?

Unless Battle commits after next month's visit I'm not sure we will have a spot. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't be a flaming jerk about it.

We will have a spot for Bryant and Battle if they want them.

What I am wondering is how this happened. Did both BJ and RP decide on their own to transfer or did the coaches nudge them. It looked like they would not get as much playing time next year. I just wonder how this works and if the coaches actually said anything. Most likely not.
