now that 2 spots have opened up...

We will have a spot for Bryant and Battle if they want them.

2015-16:

1. TC, 2. G, 3. DJ2, 4. TR, 5. CO, 6. KJ2, 7. CM, 8. MR, 9. FH, 10. TL, 11. MD

2016-17

1. DJ2, 2. TR, 3. CO, 4. KJ2, 5. CM, 6. MR, 7. FH, 8. TL, 9. MD, 10. MM

Now to get Battle you could assume someone will leave after 2015-16. But that's a tough one to count on. Then again, I never imagined BJ and RP would transfer either.
without BJ we have no pure backup 3 so I want g playing there more than not.
Malachi will get some time at the 3. We're covered.

And TL.

Do not count on McCullough after this year. If he hadn't gotten injured, he would have likely been gone after this year. He is a new dad, and I am sure he is looking for the NBA money.

We will have a spot. Just as many were told over and over again we'd have a spot for Bryant (if he decides to come here). It may not be completely obvious going forward with reduced ships but the staff has a plan and they will be prioritizing certain recruits and keeping them in the loop. There are at minimum 3 guys on next years team that aren't seniors and may "chose" not to return for 2016.

I will be upset when BJ blows it up for his next team!

I hear you but I will be really happy for BJ. Its a situation that looking at PT and the value of a year sitting out for BJ he and his family have decided its in his best interest to play elsewhere and I agree. SU is getting prepared for ship reductions and can't really be carrying red-shirts or projects. BJ will be behind Mike again this year at the 3 who will play big minutes. We have two other forwards who started last year coming back in Chris and Tyler.

there is also some ambiguity wrt the appeal. The punishment is not in effect until after the appeal so theoretically the team can get signed LOI from both Bryant and Battle (and Moyer?) before the appeal is finished. And iirc players with signed LOI will be allowed in the program even if that pushes the # of schollies above 10.

We won't be able to sign either Battle or Moyer [class of 2016] until November.

But I think that's what they're hoping--that the appeal defers the penalty temporarily, giving us a window to get an LOI from Bryant.

This is a good point. I'm unsure when the earliest you can sign is though. Isn't it like November of your senior season? The appeals may be worked through by then. I don't think the NCAA can do anything about a kid verbally committing to SU though even if it puts us over 10 for the 2016 class.

bj is the kid we see taking a team on a long run in the tourney in a few years

and i think the way bus played the game will be missed the most at practice- kid is just constant hustle- gotta love that type of kid

wish them both the best in life and hoops

i can just see the headlines now if bryant comes and we have the #1 class next year...after what has gone on this past spring

I certainly would like to see JB have one more legitmate chance for national championship.

With that roster in 2015-16

Add TB and you have 12 really solid looking Division I players. We all know JB doesn't often go further than 8 with real playing time, maybe he has an epiphany and opens up the rotation to 10, that still leaves at least two guys with walk-on type minutes. Very good possibility that one or both of those two guys aren't satisfied and end up looking for a better situation. That doesn't even touch the guys that might be leaving because they perform well enough to move on and play for pay. It will work out.

I know some might not agree, but the thought of COONEY and G two 5th year seniors has me drooling.

G has made me a believer. He's has had some brilliant moments this year. I heard TC had or has some back issues. I'm mixed about TC. He's had his chance. If Malachi is making 3's I think he's going to get more and more of TC's minutes. Everyone can play defense. Not everyone can consistently make 3's under pressure.

I think G, TR, KJ2 will be the key core players. CM will not be fully recovered until late November and he will need time to get back to NBA level play. DC2 is a complete unknown. It's not even clear if he's going to be able to play. And even if he does play how good will he be and will his knees hold up for the entire season is a legitmate question. Who knows if CO even gets to play. And even though TC is great on defense for whatever reason he has not been the most consistent three point shooter under pressure. I love TC's court energy but we really need a consistent outside threat.

So that leaves the freshmen. My hope is Malachi can contribute right off the bat. I am going to try to see Diagne play tonight in Toms River. If CO doesn't contribute then we will definitely need meaningful minutes from Diagne. TL is a complete unknown but will probably not play with G on the team. I hope TL is not another BJ. And I hope FH is not another RP. If we get TB then TB may be the replacement for Rak. We certainly have a lot of unknowns going into next year.

I hope TR follows the Rak path to success but does it one year earlier. I think TR can be a player who dramatically improves next season to NBA draft level college player. CM may need extra year to fully get back to form. Orange life is always full of drama!

Even though I don't want to see JB ever retire I think the three year announcement is a great thing. It allows everyone to prepare mentally and gives everyone a sense of urgency.

does kaleb know that?

He's going to get better. He just had a case of freshmen-itus. I have high hopes for KJ2's sophomore season. After a year under his belt he's going to settle down and be a much better players. If you compare KJ2 to other very good guards freshmen year's past he did about average.

My fear is that G has peaked. He's not a great athlete nor does he have a great handle. He's a good player who does lots of things pretty well. I like him and just think how bad we would've been if G wasn't able to come in and play PG to bail out KJ. I still think there can be better ways to get Cooney open. Or better screens or better usage of screens by Cooney. Other teams seem to get their shooters better looks, imo. I would rather see Cooney work even harder at putting it on the floor and his PASSING.

I think G is pretty good college player. Look at ND's offense in the tournament. I really like the way they play offense. I want to see the Orange play like that. ND's inside outside passing is absolutely awesome to watch! The give and go and pick and roll passing is tremendous. And they push the ball up the floor really fast like we used to play.

You fear G has peaked? He's just getting going. 1st Team ACC next year.

Not a great athlete ? we must be watching different players. He's not Jeremi Grant athletic but he might be the most athletic kid on our team.

Until the NCAA determines whether we can still add an unsigned player in Bryant to this year's class, I will expect that we will be seeing no more additions.

If they do allow Bryant or a 5th year transfer, we need to add them. Or both if possible.
