Now that GMac is HC, what does next year's squad look like?

Exciting times. Can't wait for hoops next season.

Well, you have to assume Coach McNamara brings a few Siena players with him: Doty, Folefac, ???

Don't know much about Siena's entire recruiting class but that PG Moesch looks like one dynamic little guard who may just have the athleticism and heart needed to overcome his short stature. Kid looks like a baller. You'd have to assume GMac brings him along. Wonder if there are other HS recruits Gerry has his eyes on? What about the Syracuse area kid, Eli Prince who I think Siena may have offered?

Then there are the returning Orange players, if they do in fact return: Freeman, Anthony, White, Betsey, George, Womack, the Frosh Center who's name escapes me, Kingz if granted an extra year, ???

I know it's still very early for any in depth or well informed analysis of next year's team but still, any thoughts on what type of team Cuse opens with next fall?

Freeman has size and a lot of skills. I would rather he stayed and was coached up to his potential.

Kingz was our best player and getting him an extra year would be very important.

I think if we kept the rest of the cream of the Cuse-Sienna core (especially White who I am very high on) and added one true star we would have something.

Agreed on Diawra. I have mixed feelings on Freeman. On the one hand, I see the talent and the potential. I just don't know if the kid is a winner or a leader? Seemed a little bristly at times attitude-wise, which could have just come from knowing he wasn't being led by a competent HC or staff. Kids ain't stupid. They could see their coaches were lacking with even more clarity than the fans. Tbh, the whole team seemed to tune out Red in the end so it wasn't just Freeman.

Hey if he's willing to be coached up and put in the work, I'd love to see him in Orange again but ultimately that will be something GMac and his new staff will have to figure out - along with a thousand other things.

Kidding, but seriously I'm not sure. I'd like to see a lot of our guys come back - I really think the coaching was that bad, the talent is there. It sounds like Doty, Folefac & Moesch will be coming. I'd be surprised if Donnie came back truthfully.. Given the NIL we are here I am expecting a big time difference maker at that other guard and Center spots.

If we roll out something like this I think that's a pretty solid roster on paper for Gerry in year 1. But of course all speculation, within reason..

Two years ago Donnie was projected as an NBA second rounder before he got hurt. I gotta believe that he thinks he has the potential to be drafted and that he would put the work in for a new Coach who he respected to make that happen.
 
That would be that smart play. Finally get to work with a legit "Big Man" Coach, add a few low post scoring moves, get stronger and raise his draft stock while hopefully getting SU back to the dance in the process.

I would hope you're right on Freeman. But in just watching the tournament so far, these teams big guys attack so hard underneath and play so hard on both ends and I just don't see that in Donnie. He prefers to be Kevin Durant. He's not. If Gerry can get him to play the way these frontcourt guys of the elite teams go at it, then yes, I would want him back. But I think a lot of that comes from within nad not some guy yelling at you or putting his arm around you.. Hearing he could head to Providence. And won't that be an anticipated game next year.

Unless there's some dramatic growth in his game over the summer - which to be fair, is possible - I can't see Anthony starting over Doty who I admittedly only saw play once against Duke but he looked legit and ready for the step up in competition. Anthony's game needs a lot of work, imo.

You ain't lying. And your take on Freeman seems about right to me. Just don't see a "dawg" in him and yeah, that wannabe KD thing is real. I got that vibe too.

Freeman can stay but Gmac gotta have the talk. U play hard all the time and u play. Once u don’t bench. Period.

I agree Doty is the better player at the moment, but Kiyan will get the token start/be the starter to open the season, but will then be the first one subbed out. Doty will make it so Gerry can't take him off the court once he's on the floor, and will take over the starting role by the start of ACC play.

Siena guys- Doty, Folefac, Moesch?
Cuse returnees- Kiyan, Kingz, Sadiq, two redshirts
Portal - top PG, top C , another shooter, another backup big
recruits- at least one overseas guy

Donnie I am not sure on but if he is willing to be coached and develop then I’d say he’s worth it. Not at all worth overpaying. George is too expensive to keep for what he is. I just don’t see him as a good fit after he underwhelmed. Betsey is too one dimensional even though he can be an elite shooter, another one I would say if the price is right and there’s belief from the staff you swap him in vs another portal shooter.

I’d be more than fine if all we get is 3 Siena guys Kingz, Kiyan , Sadiq and the rest portal or even if it’s just Kiyan , Siena and then all portal and possibly euros.
 
At this point, I’m fine if Donnie leaves. He might need a change of scenery and a big time program that can try to get him to the NBA. Sometimes, things just don’t work out.
 
Anyone know anything about Parrish Edmond? A Siena recruit rumored to follow GMac to SU.

Honestly the only su/siena guys I'm interested in are white,kingz, doty, and folelac sp. I know kiyan will be here. I want the rest of the roster from the portal.
