Now that GMac is HC, what does next year's squad look like?

Let's talk about agents. I had a D1 coach tell me how these agents are ruining these kids. Promising them X amount of dollars and then taking anywhere from 15% to 40% from these young kids who have no experience or proper guidance.
Yeah, and let's be real, these agents kind of came out of nowhere. The best agents are working with the professional leagues. They're somewhat random people likely with limited training/experience or background in contracting.

That is an open invitation to predatory practices.

Yeah all the sudden everybody erybody is an agent now… just like all the real estate agents that pop up when a market is hot.

I think fans are overestimating what players are getting paid. Most starters are not getting paid a million dollars. I think people would be surprised what players are ACTUALLY getting paid. You can get very good players in the $600,000-$800,000 range. The very top of the line players maybe getting $2 million. The only numbers we are hearing are coming from agents. They are just pimping their players. One of the very best players potentially in the portal will be Bigunda from Kansas. The number floated around by his agent is $5 million, but everyone else is saying he might get $2.5 million. He's first team Big 12 and defensive player of the year. He will be pursued by all the big time programs.
Still, it is amazing to think that only ~4 years ago most players got almost nothing. And even the under the table deals before that were a small fraction of today's deals.

So here is my worry. I’m looking at Lewis at nova and he’s leaving for more money even though he was gonna get paid. Are we gonna be like them and be a stepping stone to programs like a Duke or Kentucky? How is this healthy for the sport. We need to get these players under contract this is absurd!

We already are, look at Maliq Brown.

There’s a lot better PGs in the portal than Lewis already. The problem is agents as well as these kids seeing that NBA dreams may be long ways off and they want that NBA money they feel they deserve.

Not "anyone." There is a formal NCAA certification process, background check, educational components, fees, and other requirements.

NCAA Agent Certification
That link says it's for representing NCAA athletes seeking to go pro. I'm not saying there isn't a similar regulatory regime for representing kids for NIL purposes but I'm not aware of one.

I read there was no requirement for transfers/NIL

That's a good point, JOC.

I find this part confusing:

How does the NCAA identify or define the term "agent"?

An agent is any individual who, directly or indirectly: (a) Represents or attempts to

represent an individual for the purpose of marketing the individual's athletics ability or

reputation for financial gain; or (b) Seeks to obtain any type of financial gain or benefit

from securing a prospective student-athlete's enrollment at an educational institution or

from a student-athlete's potential earnings as a professional athlete.
