Well, let’s take Starling as an example. 29.9% from 3 as a frosh, 32.4 as a soph, 26.8 as a junior and 28.9 as a senior. As I said, even a cursory review of players will find most hover around the same %, maybe up 2-3 %, but also maybe down a bit. There simply isn’t any actual proof that the majority of guys make any great improvements. Some do, but not most.

You’re cherry picked one of our most disappointing players ever. Mike Gbinije. Andy Rautins. Demetris Nichols. Joe Girard. James Southerland. Preston Shumpert. Kueth Duany. Kris Joseph. Eric Devendorf. Even maligned players like Frank Howard and Trevor Cooney shot better late in their career than early. Buddy Boeheim struggled his freshman year and got better. Those are the guys who took a lot of shots with volume who were able to improve, but let’s focus on JJ Starling who played under Red Autry.
