NY Times article Boeheim and SU

William Rhodes is a disloyal idiot. I want him to attend a jimmy press conference in person

All of these articles assume there is a "there" there, and that is probably true. We did fire one guy who was the academic administrator (or whatever his title was). At least this article didn't repeat the "throw the dart at the rule book" slander, but it was implied. Oh, and don't you love all those commercials during the tournament about how "there for you" the NCAA is for student athletes? <barf>

I know it an editorial but this article is so unfair and lacks newsworthiness. I guess NYT is the new Daily Mirror

The Bernie Fine comment was a non sequitur, and totally unfair.

Maybe Rhodes was constrained by a limit on the size of his column, but the shallowness of this piece is embarrassing.

And, my recollection of Boeheim's demeanor at the 1992 news conference is much different. I remember JB sitting next to Jake, completely downcast and abashed.

Billy the Rodent.. if he acts like a rat, writes like a rat, and looks like a rat...

This shameful article is nothing but a highly speculative OPINION piece. Why doesn't the NY Times write a carefully researched and crafted piece on the outrageous and tyrranous jaggernaut that's known as the NCAA?

This is just more of the "let's get the bastard" retribution you get from the media when you take on one (or more) of their own. JB has always had a contentious relationship with the media which does the university and the program no favors. But when you publicly call out and embarrass a national media figure, you just invite this type of nonsense. Don't think for a minute it is not related. This piece won't be the last. The more noise that comes from the NCAA will only feed the media beast and provide more of an opportunity for them to circle the intended target.

Actually, they have an opinion write named Nocera who has taken on the NCAA vociferously. Maybe he'll take on one of his colleagues as well.

I posted the link to the article because it's an indication that the major newspaper in the country has given some ink to the current situation. Usually that's a signal that everyone from NPR to the National Enquirer is free to jump in.

Hate to see it get that much prominence.

Those horrific charges in 1992 included David Johnson eating dinner at his girlfriend's house without paying. It seems her parents were SU alums, so this was an illegal benefit.

"under investigation for years". Uh, seriously? Makes It sound as though the NCAA doesn't know it's ass from it's elbow. Incredibly embarrassing indictment of their lack of investigative ability.

I wonder if he actually believes that JB relishes the battle of these press conferences. That may be the stupidest thing in that article.
