Fair weather fans decry the weather too fair
to sit in the Dome, to waste time there.

To not hear the chants of "Let's Go Orange!"
in favor or repairing a squeaky door hinge.

Or, of leaves to rake or grass to mow
instead of screaming "War Damn Otto!"

Belief without evidence we are asked to accept,
despite many years of football inept.

Of history, of glory, of "Old 44"
they say we won't see those days anymore.

But...what of hope? Of something new?
We feel a tide rising, will they feel it, too?

A game played faster, faster than ever;
from meathead football our ties we will sever.

Expectations ill-met, mediocrity at best,
never more settled for, all put to rest.

Occasionally great, but not steadily good;
Can we be? Yes. We would, we could, we should.

Of the Fall of '18, I think we will see
that this was the start of our revelry.

No more lamenting crowd size, I'll wager,
no more fearing a loss to a mid-major.

A return to prominence, a bright sun after the storm.
Maybe, if we're lucky, a true and proper uniform.

So onward and upward, on victories we'll binge,
as we hear the Dome roar: "Let's Go Orange!"

I have to be honest. I was a little afraid to have posted this the day before the FSU game. But now that we have won, I think this sounds so much more appropriate. I very much appreciate the “likes” and I want to give others a chance to read it in light of our very festive state of mind. And to be honest, I am proud of this and tried to touch on many of the themes that frequently appear in this forum so that most would get a little chuckle as they read it.
Again...enjoy!!!
And Let’s Go Orange!!!

That was a FANTASTIC poem! You fit in a lot and expressed the angst and hopes over the years cleverly and poignantly. There was a LOT of spontaneous Let’s Go Orange chants and I hope you were able to hear them on tv.

Write more! Maybe your poetry will tickle the Muses and they will assist us with more victories!

And they said you can't rhyme anything with "orange"
(I saw Eminem's 60 minutes interview too);)

Thank you so much! I was fortunate enough to come up for the game and sit with my stepdad, and after a sketchy first half, was thrilled with the outcome and the way everything ultimately turned out for us! But I was eager to share this with my Orange Family and equally glad that it has been so well received! We are all in this together, and now is the time to smile and enjoy the ride!
Let’s beat UConn, go 4-0, and see what happens in Death Valley. You never know...:)
