What's The Craziest Things You've Ever Seen In The Dome?

I’ve told this story here before, but what the heck…

In the Dome’s first game, I was sitting with a friend in the last row of the lower section, right against the concrete wall. On those days, the coaches and opposing coaches were in private boxes. We had the Miami, OH coaches right behind us. We always stood up on the benches to watch the game.

At various times during the game, my friend thinks it’s funny to flip the bird at the coaches behind us. When Miami scored at one point, the Visiting coaches were very excited. But then they kicked off to Joe Morris and he returned it all the way for a TD. I put my hands up in celebration, and one of the Miami coaches - who was pissed - reached over the wall and grabbed MY hand by the middle finger and yelled “Do that again and I’ll break it off!”
So did you do it again?
I know I would have stood there for the rest of the game middle finger flying high.

I think it was about 5-6 years ago, our youngest first game at the dome.
She was feeling sick in the morning, she was only 1-2 years old at the time, we took her to the tailgate and she did well and took a nap.
About half way through the game she was sitting on my lap and I looked down to see her diaper leaking directly into my cargo shorts side pocket, he was the brown stuff.
All we could is laugh and off to the bathroom I took her.

Did you have to drive back to PA with poo soaked shorts? Were you able to take them off and rinse them, I hope? Even, if not, it's a great story. Every parent here has been the recipient of such a soaking.

Triple OT win v Nova in BE championship game. Way before 6 OT in the Garden. The shame of it was that it was a so so season and as a new conference the BE tourney champ did not get an auto bid so we did not get to go to the NCAA tourney. If my memory is correct, we went to The NIT and finished as runners up to Tulsa. The team caught fire after Mary head broke his hand. The year was 1981.

I saw a kid in a marching band uniform at the end of the Stanford game this year, rip off their jacket, kick a wall and start hopping around in pain.

That may have also been me
Since we are now bringing the band into this, I will mention a non-Dome story when SU played (and won 21-14) at Penn State in 1964. The band was going to Happy Valley on buses and were alcohol fueled. Somewhere along the way, unnamed members decided to moon out the rear windows at other cars. Unfortunately, one was a PA trooper. Yes, we got pulled over, but got off with a warning. BTW, JoePa was an assistant coach to Rip Engel and knocked me over running down the sideline warning of a fake SU kick.

Naked posters of chicks in the student section to distract the Georgetown FT shooters

In 2025, that would be a major PR crisis for the university. The 80s were crazy.

I remember an interview with Keith Hernandez where he said there can never be another team like the '86 Mets, in part because almost every day things happened which would be a PR crisis for the team today (my sister may or may not have been a bartender at a bar out in the Hamptons at the time, and may or may not recall certain Mets doing lines of coke off the bar a few times that season...).

I have mixed emotions about the 80s - I both fondly recall a lot of the crazy stuff that went on, and am glad it doesn't happen anymore.

Not a complete surprise as that was an area of expertise for Keith back in the day.

Hey we survived, aren't in prison or rehab so it is all good. My undergrad years were in the 70's, just as nuts.

Saw a teen eat half of a dome dog and then throw the other half into the crowd below. It was gross. Whoever got hit was gonna be wearing mustard.

But not ketchup!

Out of dome so might not count. At the Armory for a Traffic concert with the little known Bob Marley and the Whalers as the opening act, 1973. Both bands were contracted to Island Records in London and their Island Records publicist, who hand carried their tape from the Jamaica recording studio to London, now over 40 years later, is my British wife. Sorry Bob, RIP, I was the one that finally got her. He called her his green eyed Raster.
