Obviously we are all SU fans first, and want to win the NC, but if I said you could have Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan State or the field to win NC which would you bet on. I honestly think the NC title comes from one of those 4 teams would take them if I had to bet. I still think SU could compete and beat any of them in a 1 and done scenairo I just think college hoops is top heavy this year instead of full of parity like it has been recently.

I don't think these 4 are nearly as far ahead of the pack as it seems. All of them have clear Flaws. Duke lacks a real inside presence on both ends. Kansas is super young and has the same issue not having Withey in the middle and they also are a bit shaky at PG. UK has a lot of talent but like us does not shoot all that well from 3. They will be forced to lean on Randle excessively against good competition. So far he is up to the task. In many ways they resemble us with their youth but talent at the position. We have to rely a lot on CJ much like UK does Randle. Mich St is an enigma. They have stellar guards and a really good big man in Payne. They really don't have much at the swing positions and struggle when Payne is on the bench. Mich st also looks shaky on d. Columbia passed circles around them and even got into the lane at times. If not for Columbia imploding Mich st would not be even top 5.

This years team reminds me a lot of how unsure we were of things in 2003. Some good talent but a lot of youth that needed to play some legit competition to help us understand where we really stood. Maui should give us a good idea of that. Remember we didn't set the world on fire against weaker teams in 03. We lost the first against memphis who bombed the zone then struggled against valpo. Although we won handily vs a few teams after that, there were still plenty of questions. Then after blowing out Gtech we struggled against a canisius team who led for a large part of the game. I think talent wise we are right there. Once chemistry and the young players improvement starts to factor in we should see that talent reflect a bit better.

I'd take the field. I still think Louisville is the deepest, most talented team in the country and in terms of experience has the edge on all four of those teams.

It's close, but I'd take the field. The teams are unlikely to be placed in 4 separate brackets, so the odds are diminished slightly.
