Observations…

I would argue Pitt would not have even stopped the clock if we ran the ball or took a knee. It's not like their offense were killing us in the first half. With around 35 seconds or so when we took possession they likely would have just let the clock run out (unless they had a plus return).
A few additional thoughts/questions as my son and I were at the game as well. First you could feel all the oxygen just leave the stadium after that first drive int. On TV did the replay show anything like he was hit while throwing or was it just a horrible throw? It just from our view looked like a horrible throw.
Second pretty sure Pitt was stacking the box and daring us to beat them in the air (knowing full well our QB situation was sub par). That said constantly running up the middle was mind boggling. Deslauriers continued to be a force over all on the field. Tremble made some nice plays as well.

They might have just to force the punt. Anything can happen. But why did we bother to stop them from running out the clock? If we do not use our timeouts, they run out the clock. The coaches just cannot accept that we do not have a QB that can drive the field reliably under any circumstance. Reality can set in any time now…

Agreed. Made no sense for that time out being called. If we have Angeli sure. We don't. So both bad choices on the T/O and subsequent play selection. Honestly Fran has a headset. Just should have told Nixon to run the clock after the first down incompletion.

On TV the camera was on HCFB right after the punt return TD. He was yelling into the headset: "Un-*&!ing -believable, run the ball" (or something to that effect). Guessing Nixon was on the other end.
yeah, you don't say that after the fact. Where was the yelling after the first down pass? Or even the second? It's easy to yell after that disaster. Coaching is not letting it happen in the first place.

I don't believe Pitt was going to stop the clock. Felt like they wanted to get to half like the rest of us. And their QB had just injured himself.
I agree. And we didn't need to just take a knee. Run a running play and rush up to the line. And just wait there. Pitt wouldn't take a time out if they thought we were rushing in a play.

I agree and frankly I think PITT knew their O was struggling. They couldn't run the ball and their Frosh was putting up some dangerous throws too. I think they would have said let's go in and assess.

That’s an indictment of Fran. Honestly, the past couple weeks of him passive aggressively blaming his coordinators has been a terrible look.

It’s your staff, Fran. If they’re calling plays you don’t like then override them. That’s literally a role of the head coach.

Pitt had 2 timeouts. Take 3 knees and 30 seconds elapses

Lip reading clear as day...

Also have a beef with trying to go for it on 4th and 23 or whatever it was with over 7 minutes left and timeouts. Also going for the 2 point conversion with so much time left makes zero sense. In the end none of it mattered but like to maximize our chances.
