obviously are arguably the most important group of guys on the team. Wanted to focus on the OL and based on what we have still on the roster and the 4 new guys incoming, we are in pretty good shape if the guys on the roster develop as expected for next year. Will have 16 scholarship linemen on the roster next year barring something unforseen.

We are Losing:
Robinson
Trudo
Foy
Shanley - W/O

We have back:
Omari Palmer
Donnie Foster W/O
Aaron Roberts
Cody Conway
Sam Clausman
Andreas Deurig
Evan Adams
Colin Byrne
Jamal McGloster
Michael Lasker
Alex Hayes
Jon Burton
Keaton Darney - W/O
Jason Emerich
Taylor Hindy - W/O

Incoming:
Heckel
Brouse
DeGeorge
Servais

Our DL is a mess

We need a lot of help for depth purposes

Thompson is up in the air
Our two fresh DE are up in the air

DL needs attention

I agree with you, we need more tackles and a few more DE's for sure.

That is a boatload of inexperience at OL. Yikes.

Lot inexperience but quite a bit of talent too. Whoever is starting at QB better buckle their chinstrap and get rid of the ball like Marino.

Just scholarship OL we currently have 13. Count the current recruiting class it's 17. They're still putting out OL offers. That math is getting to a point where it isn't going to work out.

I wonder if HCDB has a theory of offense first and if they don't work move them over? For example WR's to DB and OL to DL? I want to add that impact recruits on the D side are slotted there but the tweeners may be moved thus creating some depth on the D side.

Early guess at the two deep after spring ball...

OT Cody Conway / Colin Byrne
OG Omari Palmer / Alex Hayes
C Jason Emerich / Andreas Deurig
OG Aaron Roberts / Sam Clausman
OT Evan Adams / Jamal McGloster

Palmer was at OT this year and might stay there. He got really fat this year, which I think contributed to him being banged up a lot. I think he needs to drop a lot of weight to play in Dino's system.

Hoping the young OTs are ready to step up. If Palmer can't cut the weight, Hayes is the logical guy to replace him.

One thing I'd imagine is that the OL won't have to hold their blocks that long in this system as often as the past. A good teacher and commitment along with of course talent (which I think they do have) will do wonders for this group. I love the cohesion this staff has had and being on the same page is going to help this process.

Perhaps, but the running game is pretty much an inside running game and, from what I have watched is a lot of zone blocking and a bit of power O. The tackles are going to have to shine. I think it is a concern.

I agree with this 2 deep. Palmer has a guard frame and guard feet. He isn't a tackle. We need the tall, longer prototypical tackles like Conway, Burton, and Adams to step up. Burton is a beast, hope he has the motor and skills.

Doesn't Shanley potentially have another year of eligibility since he didn't play in his freshman year?

Assuming all those guys come back.

I think run blocking is easier to teach and it may depend on what the player did at high school as well, like Robinson for example as BVille ran a huge percentage of time. It is a concern I agree and this spring will be a huge impact teaching window.

Dino might like Hayes as Alex lost some weight last summer to become more mobile. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 303 lbs. to 279 lbs.

Yes, if the season started today, Hayes might well start with Palmer the odd man out.

For the 2016 season, Palmer should be one of the senior leaders and a possible captain. Let's see if he buys into the system and gets his body right to play in the new system.

Is Emerich coming back or does he walk with his diploma? IMO he was the best offensive lineman this year.

I think that given the fact they are going to be coached by a coach who has experience coaching the OL will make a huge difference. These guys have been without solid coaching for the last few years and it has shown.

you would think Shanley would see how the spring practice goes and then decide if he comes back in the fall.. he started this year and maybe the new system is better for him.

In year one, this staff is more liable to play the kids that fit their system over upperclassmen. You want to start molding your guys as soon as possible, and a new staff has no allegiances to the upperclassmen.

That really makes a helluva lot of sense. Especially since we know year one is gonna be a no-pressure honeymoon for Babers and Company.

I still have visions of Aaron Donald knocking him ass over tea kettle on a PAT, which Donald then blocked. Nightmare.

As visions of sugarplums danced in their wee little heads...
