With Curtis out there are now only 12 scholarship players (should have 15 on the roster)

C Macky McPherson - junior
C Jason Emerich - Tfreshman
OT Justin Pugh - junior
OT Lou Alexander - senior
OT Sean Hickey - sophomore
OT Andy Phillips - junior
OT Nick Robinson - Rfreshman
OT Kyle Knapp - Tfreshman
OG Rob Trudo - Rfreshman
OG Ivan Foy - Rfreshman
OG Zach Chibane - senior
OG Omari Palmer - Tfreshman

Next Year - 10 scholarship players with 4 seniors (should have 15 on the roster)

C Macky McPherson - senior
C Jason Emerich - Tfreshman / class tbd
OT Justin Pugh - senior
OT Sean Hickey - senior
OT Andy Phillips - senior
OT Nick Robinson - sophomore
OT Kyle Knapp - Tfreshman / class tbd
OG Rob Trudo - sophomore
OG Ivan Foy - sophomore
OG Omari Palmer - Tfreshman / class tbd

Recruiting offensive lineman this class just became a huge priority. Going to have to bring in 3-5 kids and may have to look juco depending on the high school haul.

Can't hurt to be able to pitch a major opportunity for PT, but also not sure that those guys that we bring in at this point can contribute early. The outlook has definitely turned into a stressful one.

need minimum of 3 this year, 6 prospects next year, and probably 5 the following

There's no way a JUCO doesn't come in at this point.

Being top heavy with seniors next year ideally I'd bring in 2 juco's who have 3 years to play 2. That way I can redshirt them if need be and they'll be ready to go when the 4 seniors graduate.

At this point you would have to think two Juco's, not sure if its possible but I wonder if the Coleman kid could switch to Offense.

Bringing in JUCOs may be the way we have to go but it is a band aid.

Not sure what else we can do at this point, other then Officer ( who by the way god only knows where he ends up) SU isnt really involved in any other top level Line prospects and with this year schedule I dont see a 9-3 or 8-4 type of record where we could get back involved or flip a kid.

At this point, your right, nothing can be done. But could have been done at a prior point.

I was a bit surprised we didnt take a JUCO this year but we did bring 3 lineman who at least appear to be all solid recruits at least at this point. Probably should not have offered Barrett a scholie, I know it was done for a reason but it didnt work out anyway. Probably going to have to take a look at a B list type kid we can redshirt along with 2 JUCO's and hopefully Officer but as I noted before hes far from a lock. Perhaps a transfer or a position change will be needed to help shore things up.

Even though nobody could predict how he left but our roster is not in a position to be giving out gratuitous scholies.

We're still in play with Curtis, the kid from Orlando, and he's supposed to visit.

Plus, historically we haven't had particularly good luck with JUCO OL [Tiller being the exception].

Shawn Curtis out of Orlando has SU in his top 5 and supposedly will visit. He is a 3 star recruit with 8-10 BCS offers. Besides him and Officer, though, haven't heard of any other prospects.

Officer just became an enormously important recruit.

Yep. I'd hope the full court press is on with him right now. Curtis too. Matter of fact I hope the staff is revisiting the Penn St. roster again.

Wonder if there's any talent at Milford...

The good news is that we can field a legitimate two-deep next year from the returning players--the vast majority of whom should have game experience.

Question: can a player like Foy potentially shift to OT, or is he locked in at G?

wrong hay alexander tiller we have had very good luck with jucos look for two this year and next

Best returning JUCO OL from the Northeast Football Conference. The Northeast Conference is the conferencewhere the best JUCO programs in the Northeast play. It includes Nassau, ASA Lackawanna, Dean, :

Jarell Broxton Lackawanna OG 6'4 330 SU listed as school of interest
Marquis Wallace Lackawanna OG 6'3 300 former WVU verbal
Abdul Caesar Louisburg OG 6'2 265
Andrew Edurd Lackawanna OG 6'2 285
Leon Hall Dean OT 6'5 315
Ken Hansen Dean OT 6'4 300
Byron Pinkston Dean OG 6'3 295 already verbaled to N Colorado
Dashon Riley Dean OG 6'3 315 another Dash Riley, what were the odds of that?
Leon Brown ASA OT 6'6 310 teammate of Wayne Williams, committed to Bama
Nick Pedrotti Hudson Valley OT 6'3 292
Jaydell Roy Lackawanna 6'6 350
Cedric Brittnum ASA 6'5 300
Jonathan Jenkins ASA 6'4 320

Don't see any OL on Nassau that looks promising in the 2013 class. Best prospects for SU are probably Broxton, Hall and Hansen.

I would say this is not a good year for JUCO OT from the Northeast Conference. They might have to go out west.

Wrong? Hay was abysmal and played out of necessity, and Alexander to date hasn't made any positive contribution.

People's expectations for JUCO's are perpetually out of whack on this forum.

I really try to stay away from criticizing players on here as much as I can. And I would with Hay if it was just because he wasn't as good as expected, because that happens. But the CONSTANT personal foul penalties on him really wore on me very quickly! Not my favorite player.

Hay started enough said. Alexander is starting enough said. Tiller was going to make the Saints. Gee lets see how many of our OL Jucos didnt play? How many of our HS OL recruits dont play? Doug should have brought in a Juco this year. He will bring in two next.

Milford Academy is bare this year to.

Besides Hilliard and Syracuse, Temple has 3 prospects there. No line guys.

There are 2 WR's and a RB from Illinois that might be D1 players.

One WR is Jalen Gee out of Maryland - think he had a WVU offer. 6-1 185

The above post shows a lack of perspective on the JUCO OL--and there have been more of them over the years than just the three you mention, but let's focus on them for a second. Hay was a marginal stop gap. He started ONLY because there was nobody else to take his place at RT when he perpetually screwed up. Alexander hasn't played a snap this year, wasn't part of the rotation last year, and all signs suggest that the coaching staff plans on moving Hickey to RT as soon as Pugh gets back. Enough said. JUCO OL aren't the way to go, nor are they a long term solution for a northeastern university that lacks strong geographic ties to JUCO hotbeds.

We return 10 of our top 11 offensive linemen next year--think about that for a second. We need to bring in 3 [minimum] recruits this year on OL. 13 is a few short of the ideal 15 that has been discussed, but there is no need for panic on the recruiting trail.

My expectation is that we are going to land Officer. I also think that we'll see recruits come out of the woodwork that Scout isn't focused on, like the kid from Bromley's high school [Webster?]. I also expect that the coaching staff will also beat the bush and leave no stone unturned. I'm sure they'll look at Nassau CC to see if there is a D1 OL prospect. Milford, Hargrave, kids from our non traditional recruiting area [Michigan? Down South?], etc.

I still believe we can get to 3-4 quality OL in this class.

Starting proves what? That there wasn't much behind them at the time.
