Offensive Line roster

Starting proves what? That there wasn't much behind them at the time.

Yeah Exactly, there was pretty much nothing behind Hay and we have no idea what if anything we will get out of Alexander. Tiller would be nice to have around for one more year but unfortunately he didnt have a full eligibility clock. At minimum we should be brining in one JUCO, would also be great to redshirt Knapp, Emerich, and Palmer if possible.

Hay started enough said. Alexander is starting enough said. Tiller was going to make the Saints. Gee lets see how many of our OL Jucos didnt play? How many of our HS OL recruits dont play? Doug should have brought in a Juco this year. He will bring in two next.

Hay starting is not "enough said". Hay was not very effective and is not a good example. JUCO's, in general, are not the way to go when recruiting linemen because linemen take the longest time to develop and are some of the hardest to get to break bad habits. You get a guy with 2 to play 2, and unless he's coming in with great technique, you're more or less stuck with the warts he has. JUCO linemen should be the exception, guys to add depth where there is no real expectation they start. Then if they do develop in a short period of time it's a bonus.

We need freshmen, not JUCO's.

Starting proves that they were better than the HS recruits that were on the team which is the reason they were brought in. Yes Hay was marginal at best but he started. Say what you want about Alexander but he is starting and Tiller was a good player. I dont see the argument for not bringing in a Juco if he staff feels the current players are not ready or if we need depth as it is almost impossible for a true frosh to play OL. I think the last player that Su had who came in as a frosh OL and played was Blake and that was years ago.

With Curtis out there are now only 12 scholarship players (should have 15 on the roster)

C Macky McPherson - junior
C Jason Emerich - Tfreshman
OT Justin Pugh - junior
OT Lou Alexander - senior
OT Sean Hickey - sophomore
OT Andy Phillips - junior
OT Nick Robinson - Rfreshman
OT Kyle Knapp - Tfreshman
OG Rob Trudo - Rfreshman
OG Ivan Foy - Rfreshman
OG Zach Chibane - senior
OG Omari Palmer - Tfreshman

Next Year - 10 scholarship players with 4 seniors (should have 15 on the roster)

C Macky McPherson - senior
C Jason Emerich - Tfreshman / class tbd
OT Justin Pugh - senior
OT Sean Hickey - senior
OT Andy Phillips - senior
OT Nick Robinson - sophomore
OT Kyle Knapp - Tfreshman / class tbd
OG Rob Trudo - sophomore
OG Ivan Foy - sophomore
OG Omari Palmer - Tfreshman / class tbd

Recruiting offensive lineman this class just became a huge priority. Going to have to bring in 3-5 kids and may have to look juco depending on the high school haul.

Good post Phat! Not to make things worse, but there had been talk before that if Pugh had a good season he could leave early ala Chandler Jones. Not sure if the injury would impact that or not. On the bright side, you have Hickey listed as a senior next year, but I believe he would only be a redshirt junior so we would lose 3 seniors instead of 4 (depending on Pugh's situation). Fortunately, the young big ugly's we currently have on the team appear to be good and will get better - although I know we have to keep restocking talent every year to stay strong!

ya'll can say what you want about hay. I was never a big fan, But he came right in and started which is hard to do at any level. He was a starting tackle on the team that won us a bowl game. He served his purpose. Of course I wish he was better but we got out of him what we expected and we did when a bowl game with him like I said. I've heard of many juco's who never touch the field after transferring. If he was that bad, he shouldn't have been on the field then.

Milford Academy is bare this year to.

Besides Hilliard and Syracuse, Temple has 3 prospects there. No line guys.

There are 2 WR's and a RB from Illinois that might be D1 players.

One WR is Jalen Gee out of Maryland - think he had a WVU offer. 6-1 185

Fwiw pretty sure the highly rated TE McNeil that is committed to Alabama is there also

I think you judge each player on his own merits, which makes this discussion of HS recruits vs JUCO transfers moot, and to some degree inane. There are many reasons why athletes go to JUCO instead of a 4 year institution. For an ELITE ATHLETE, academic problems are the most often occuring reason. Of the recent JUCOs, Tiller was perhaps the best. As I recall, he was headed to Miami originally. He turned out fairly well and I am well aware that he may be a poster boy for a group that doesn't always pan out. That being said, as I previously mentioned on this thread, I still think not enough attention has been devoted to the Curtis kid in Orlando who is scheduled to visit. Also, Tomcat mentioned one kid that is a present JUCO verballed to Alabama. Perhaps, we may be able to purloin him if he has Northeast ties? The point here is, or should be, we go after talent wherever you can find it on the recruiting trail, which includes BOTH high school athletes and JUCO athletes!

I wouldn't limit SU's interest to only North East Juco's. SU has had success with California Juco's, so I'm sure they'll look there. Losing 2 OL in a week, each with 4 years of eligibilty is tough. I'm sure the staff is ratcheting up recruitment of OLs.
