Offensive motions causing confusion

This happens more than people think.

In the first sequence there were two receivers wide open after he steps back in the pocket and sets his feet, he doesn’t see either one of them to the right. Run first quarterbacks are not going through their progressions.
I have the same problem in NCAA 14… I lock on to 1 receiver. :(

Shrader was definitely off in the 1st half. Missing reads, scrambling too early, bad throws, etc. But he kept grinding after halftime.

The leaps and bounds this kid has made this year is incredible.

If you haven’t already noticed, Syracuse is clearly the Cinderella story in the ACC right now. More and more of the talking heads and many of the college football folks on Twitter are certainly taking notice and giving the Cuse a huge amount of credit.

God it feels so good to be 3-0!

THIS... For whatever reason, it seems like the media wants us to be good this season. There will always be plenty of detractors but it's nice to hear some positive things about this team from outside of Syracuse. Hopefully, they take care of business this week.

I'm so glad to be corrected by a football savant like yourself. You haven't a clue.
Phat referred to shrader not throwing the ball. You referred to catch rate on the passes he does throw as if that is relevant to phat's point. Goofy.

He had the highest P5 PFF grade for that week and you are saying that’s not good enough?
No, I said when someone brings up passes he didn't throw, the percentage of passes he completes is not that relevant. If rmh read and understood phat's point, he wouldn't have brought up completion percentage.

Fwiw I'm fine with shafer tucking and running in a one read offense.

edit - or shrader. that would be better. shafer is washed up and has a screw loose.

My impression but may be wrong was that PFF grading included decision making including making the proper read. But otherwise I don’t think you can include the Purdue game as part of a trend analysis when it has come out that Shrader was sick with limited practice that week.

We have a hard time knowing what the proper read is because we dont know the D or the play called.. the proper read isnt always the guy who is open. Some look obvious to us, but we look at plays threw the lens of passing first offense.. It could well be that on some plays the design is, if you see a D then its one read and run, It could be read 1 2 3 run as a last resort.. We just dont know.

A couple last week for sure he missed some reads just looking at play design, but not all are so simple to tell. But if we send Tucker in motion and the D doesnt adjust I hope thats a hot read more often. And while we missed the wheel route throws last week, it was open with no safety 4-5 times. You cant ask for more than that to have one of your faster guys with 2-3-4 yd of space being covered by a DE or LB.

Some plays its not so much a read 1-2 as a look 1-2.. Some of these Orande plays you would think he is looking off the safety knowing where he wants to go.

A successful playcall can have multiple people open and those options are fantastic to have it the players execute in all facets of the play. I know that is obvious but watching the O do this is a thing of beauty and the movement to actually get people open has been needed for years. I'm very curious on how much we've seen % wise of the plays.
