If he was our guy we would be loving every second of it. He has receipts. Winning cures all.
thats not entirely accurate.gif

With confidence, no. I’m not particularly old, but I remember a time when winning didn’t allow you to act like a cocky jackass. Who cares about receipts
We had such a coach for 40+ years. It works as long as you're winning but if not it gets old fast.

As far as Hurley goes, we need villains to fill the Coach K vacuum. He's a great fit for this generation.

Boeheim hated media. He was a grumpy jerk when forced to sit and answer questions he didn’t like. That’s a lot different than what Hurley is. Hurley seeks out attention.

I like him, think he’s great for the college game which needs all the help it can get, and wish he was our coach. Bruce Pearl on the other hand ….

in a perfect world you have both, a respected HC and a winning HC.

At this point give me a guy who just wins (as long as he isn’t doing something illegal). Again, we are all lying saying we wouldn’t support him as HC here. If he won back to back nattys he would be walking on water here and rightfully so. Winning cures all!
Absolutely people are lying if they say they wouldn't support him. I could see Fran doing something similar if he wins a natty and then Pitt fans tried to talk.

I envy their success but I cannot stand Hurley.

I was a huge fan of the 1986 Mets; I watched every one of their games and loved every second. They had a saying on road trips that they were going to to kick the other teams butt, drink their beer, and take their women (obviously a sanitized version there). They were absolutely arrogant, showboating jerks - and I loved every second of that season. (Especially Game 6)

I also absolutely hated the 80s Miami Hurricanes because they were a bunch of arrogant showboating jerks - and why would anyone root for a team like that?

Not only am I 100% confident I could easily support a coach like Hurley at Syracuse...I'm 100% confident most of the folks claiming they would never support a guy like Hurley would change their tune quickly if we actually had a coach like that. We're rubbing into one of the less desirable but undeniable aspects of human nature here - in group vs out group bias.

Cannot agree more. Fran is not Hurley level whatsoever, but he is very outspoken and not afraid to stand on business, and guess what we love him for it!

His success at UConn should sicken everyone associated with Cuse basketball from the players to the coaches to the fans to the administration and provide motivation to be better and do better. Having said that, have a lot of respect for what they’ve accomplished and they are fun to watch lol. Behind Syracuse, they are the second team I make an effort to tune into their games.

A couple of times.
They called time out twice, had a five second violation and threw deep out of bounds. The last time they got it in but it was stolen for the game winning tip in. Hurley was totally clueless. His team lost their poise and collapsed. Couldn’t happen to a better guy.

Seton Hall is largely bereft of talent, but they have (other things) that can help them rise up against superior opponents. UConn is taking a bit more of a step back than I expected, but is still solid.

He doesn’t have half the talent this yr. Gimme Slick Rick…
He really has no point guard anywhere near what he’s had but he picked his players, just hasn’t worked out as well, which happens. He’s human (I think). Never got an effective inbound play that worked.

Holloway is an excellent defensive minded coach who excels with tough gritty players. They are in a very tough spot with NIL not just to recruit but retain players.

As an aside to the Big East - there was more drama in the Providence - Xavier game. Yikes
