I made a thread below begging Doug to get AB 15-20 touches a game. I got a nice response but the thread got buried due to a vague title. This aims to change that. Respond here if you think AB should be The Man going forward. Crap... Now I spelled Ashton's name wrong! Damn iPad.

our best playmaker starting the game on offense... Jimmy didnt do it, maybe Doug will?

The most important thing is giving him more touches. Put the ball in his hands and good things will happen. In poker terms Broyld is +EV.

Yeah he played really well today. Seems to be getting more reps which is a good thing. Didn't he get his first career TD today?

thats true, PTG started and only had 11 of our 39 RB carries; I would be happy just to have AB take the most "shots" even if he doesnt start

I wonder when we will see the HB option pass, the wide receiver screen option pass or god forbid an actual snap under center with nassib on the sidelines (just as a package not permanently)

Man if he can throw at least a little bit he is under centre next year, wow, we wont see 300 yard games but he will create lots of one on ones for our receivers. Drooling to see what he can do under centre.

The read option where QB can pass, run, handoff or pitch is taylor made for Ashton. His TD shows he has vision, for reading the defense as the play is going on.

Possibly the best athlete of the last 10 years

Wait, why would Doug do that? If he does start Broyld, should we expect him to start Gulley, Desir and Andy Phillips too (our best KR, PR and 2nd best healthy tackle)?

In all seriousness, I absolutely agree on Broyld. He needs to be on the field nearly every offensive play.

He's a much better player then the 2 guys ahead of him on the depth chart. I'm no fan of Jerome Smith, he's just not a playmaker

Honestly, I didn't think AB was going to be this good. He's deceptively fast, smooth, great for this system.

And on a related note - looks like we will be able to RS Morris. Looking forward to seeing him as we enter the ACC.

I'll take 18 for 96.

You knew this was coming. Blame the OP.

Marrone addressed AB post game. He said AB needs to learn all his responsibilities in the game. Sounds like they are bringing him along slowly and feeding him more each week.

I like that we're slowly phasing him into game situations. He works very well in the role he played today. I think he should get at least a touch per series, either at RB or WR. This was the first game where they let him get a bunch of touches, I'd expect it to be about the same next week. 15 plays or so. Our 3 back rotation each does certain things well and we used them well today (except on those goal line plays).

Anyone that saw Broyld play in the State Championship game against Troy (a pretty good team with some D1 talent), had reason to chuckle after every post referring to Ishaq Williams as the best prospect in New York.

He left a lot of yards on the field. I think he is a good athlete and I agree with what you previously said about him being the best blocker, but he isnt a natural runner the way the best backs are (you can even see the difference between him and Gulley and Broyld [and I would argue Ameen-Moore]).

It's just mind bottling that he isn't used more. Reminds me a little of that fm back we had

He's easy better than FM back! He's bigger and stronger, simply no comparison.

I don't know about starting him, but I'd certainly increase his touches every game.

What separates him from the other two backs is his vision and quick decision making once he has the ball. It's not an accident that he always seems to be operating in space, he runs to it instinctively.

Gulley and smith simply don't have those qualities.

If the excuse is that he doesn't know or execute all the plays, I would urge Doug to run more of the plays he knows, because those plays seem to work.

Outside of the two plays at qb he ran inside our own 20 against USC, he seems to be getting at least 4 yards per touch. When you have a dominant athlete, get him the freaking ball.

Could not agree more, Jake.

I remember the first time I saw Mike Williams on the practice field. He was such a "fluid" athlete; he just seemed to have "it" and you knew from the moment you saw him. I feel the same way about AB.

Smith is a tough kid, good size, good blocker, decent speed, does much better when he plows straight ahead. But, he does not seem to be very fluid or instinctive as a runner. To my eye, he also seems to go down too "easily" on initial contact.

I am in no way anti Smith; I'm just pro Broyld.
