Does anyone here think - of these twelve recruits, aside from those who are already committed, based on their stats and your opinion, feel one or two are ready to commit and will on their Official Visit this weekend?

You might have to do some research and nobody has a crystal ball.

I’ve listed the twelve who are supposedly visiting and some of the stats I have on them for you.

They are listed alphabetically. Committed

I like all these recruits. Possible commits Bass, Hart and McMinigle. That would be a great weekend. Would love some of the others to commit but it may be later in the summer.

This is an important time in the recruiting process.

I think most schools have commits for at least half of their incoming class.

Options are being eliminated in a daily basis.

It all starts with the selector schools and trinkles down from there.

Take QBs for instance. There aren’t many P5 schools left with openings for a HS QB for the class of 2024. They tend to commit really early.

You can bet guys like White, Zurbrugg and Bass know Syracuse is taking 2 QBs this class. If they want to come here, there is great pressure to commit this weekend. Especially once the first commit happens.

If Bass does, I would not be surprised if White reacts by also verballing here. He knows another QB is coming next weekend and might well take that last spot.

The same stuff is going on with all the other positions. I am confident the staff is communicating with the recruits and ensuring they know the situation with remaining scholarships.

Anyway, this is why is expect at least 2 verbals this weekend. The ones with the fewest P5 offers are probably the most likely to commit.

Or Zurbrugg may react and commit if Bass does this weekend.

Is taking all 3 out of the question if they intend on using Bass in a role similar to that of Taysom Hill?

To me this is the first year I think we will see how the staff views high school recruiting versus portal meaning will Dino be intentionally holding ships in reserve for older portal prospects as a strategy? I would think yes.

Not out of the question -- but I wouldn't expect that all three would want to come knowing that two other guys in the class are slated to play the same position [although I expect Bass might end up as a RB who could play QB in wildcat and also throw the ball in RPO situations or on trick plays].

They may hold a scholly or two back depending on who they see in the portal, but I doubt they will have to. There will always be movement into the portal.

After last season I don't think many people saw players like Carter or Chustnut leaving or young guys who were in the two deep like Geer or Lamson leaving. For this reason, the staff may not need to ever hold scholarships back. There will be openings.

Yeah, I'm sure he would have visions of being a FT QB eventually. Even if the gimmicky stuff might get him on the field a little earlier. I'm curious if the staff would be open to taking 3 for the reasons you explain though

A little off-topic here and this may be well-known to others, but I honestly had to look up the fact that there is a town called Jim Thorpe -- which was named for a man who has zero connection to the town. Apparently it was some weird 1950s scheme to bring tourists to the town. His body is there and the family took the town to court to bring him home and lost. The governments of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s were so weird. Anywhooo -- as you were.

Zakai Wemberly is compelling as hell -- at that size, could eventually land at DE, but has the speed / athleticism to play LB. Will be interesting to see how things unfold.

I think things will unfold well with him…
