They may very well have three of the best 15-20 quarterbacks in college football on their roster.

I came here to say the samething. All of us posters using the, "but we're playing with a 3rd string QB". Well OSU is playing with a 3rd string and he can complete 15 yard passes.

It's crazy - I know it's only one game but Cardale Jones looks like a guy who could play in the NFL. I feel like I'm watching Byron Leftwich.

Cardale Jones for the record was a high level 3 star kid from Cleveland who had offers from Penn State, Michigan, West Virginia, Iowa, Illinois, Cincy etc. he then prepped a year at fork union.

If only our 3rd string QB had those offers. It's an embarrassment of riches is what it is.

Whats crazy is a guy like that would go to OSU to ride the bench. Look, i know every kid thinks their the best, and can beat anyone else out, but no one ever heard of this kid until today. Had he gone to lets say Illinois, he would have been playing, right? Michigan, coulda used him, Iowa as well.

Don't know. This kid is older than the other two. So really he was recruited over and beat out by the younger kids.

Urban Meyer has a lot to do with it. At the same time, Cardale Jones could have easily gone through OSU without ever taking a significant snap. It used to happen a lot more when the big schools could recruit many more players.

I have only seen the highlights because I am watching FSU - GT, but Lordy.

This is so true. Why go to a school where you'll ride the bench for scraps over four years when you could go to a school and be THE man on campus?!?

I have a feeling that OSU's scheme would allow most talented QB's to look good. However, remember that Wisconsin had nothing to go on regarding game plans for this guy. He was an unknown. Plus, Wisconsin picked a lousy day to lay the egg of the century. OSU is good! but not THAT good.

I have a difficult time anointing a quarterback who has played one career game a top 15-20 quarterback in the entire NCAA. Wisconsin had nothing to prepare for with Jones leading the Buckeyes. Jones was impressive but let us not get ahead of ourselves.

And yeah, the third string QB excuse for us is a bit different than it is for blue blood programs. Comparing our depth with OSU's is preposterous.

I think it's pretty impressive what OSU did but yet ironic that they got crushed by VT with their 2nd qb but crushed the Badgers with their 3rd. I believe that the talent/system around the qb's sure as heck eased that transition quite a bit.

I see what you're saying, but if you could hand-pick any QB in college football to lead SU next year - are there 15-20 guys you would choose before Cardale Jones? I'd be very hard-pressed to come up with that many names.

If more blue blood teams were forced to play their 2nd and 3rd qbs in huge primetime games you might.

I think it's more a testament to Urban Meyer and the Ohio State program than this guy individually. Any QB looks great when you have a great offensive line, great preparation, etc. Ohio State would have won with their waterboy at QB yesterday.

OSU's 3rd string guy was the 12th rated pocket passer coming out. I don't think any of SU's qbs are anywhere close. He'd have been the clear front runner at SU.

Ask Xavier Lee and Zach Allen

Keep in mind that we have seen 3 star QBs with big time offers in the last two years look absolutely putrid at SU. I think bringing a legit OC here would result in the same exact QBs being able to complete 15 yard passes. In other words, bringing Tom Herman here as OC would result in QBs being effective and looking like D-I talent even working with what we have on our roster. On top of that, we could then recruit better talent in future years. Its one thing that SU completely overlooks, disregards and puts no effort into finding a legit Special Teams coach (I'm not talking someone who does nothing but ST, but there are position coaches who know how to actually coach ST, too). Its another thing altogether that SU completely overlooks, disregards and puts no effort into finding a legit offensive staff. Every coach on the offensive side of the ball is garbage. OL Adam, RB Smith, QB Lester, and OC Lester. Ironically, George at WR coach is likely the only legit position coach who can help his players improve.
