First road game. Some of these kids (dungey/Mahoney and others) haven't been on the road yet. Could be hot, muggey, raining who knows. The road is a different animal first time out.

Momentum in college football is a fickle thing. I'd much rather be 3-1 with the team feeling confident as hell and an extra week off to prepare for USF than 1-3. USF shot their wad playing against FSU in the opening week. I love our chances.

In the AP poll? No. In the coaches poll? Well someone has to get VT's four 25th place votes, why not at least one of the four for us?

I think it's as simple as:

staying healthy on O (Dungey/Estime/Phillips/ish)
How much our secondary grows up vs the quality of QB we are facing

I like our chances vs FSU over Clemson (Watson can pick us apart) and Petrino scares me a touch. I'm not sold on NC State.

NC State is impossible to predict at this point, because they've played St. Gertrude's School for the Blind four straight weeks. The Fightin' 'Trudes are ok, but obviously have limitations.

Same thing crossed my mind and 8-4 popped in my head. After looking at the schedule I think 9-3 is possible but its not hard to imagine a stumble against another team.
