Okay, guys,,,,,,,

A win that gave us our best 25-game start (tied with two years ago) in school history. In front of our biggest weeknight crowd since 1993. With no one injured. Plus the Boeheim milestone. And a game that gave us a ton of stuff to work on in practice and in the film room.

Mostly positives here.

A W is a W.

That is all that counts come March.

No one will remember anything else about this game.

Take the W, and move forward.

Huge win. But that doesn't mean it isn't indicative of some issues that need to be cleaned up. JB even addressed the rebounding issue vehemently. But a few more reared their ugly heads too. Loved tonight's win, but I'd rather get to the F4 and win another NC. Not sure if we are on the path right now.

We are not on that path right now.

Not that we should be only comparing ourselves to Kentucky, but most here see it that way.

Always happy to beat G'Town, but if we don't figure out how to get into a productive halfcourt offense and start to figure out how to rebound the ball, we're in trouble come March.

Time for a story,

Once upon a time the Green Bay Packers went 15-1 in the regular season. They had many glaring weaknesses but seemed to overcome them to secure the W. People who brought up these weaknesses were bashed because "they've only lost one game! They're obviously doing a lot right!" Then they the bed in the playoffs and every weakness and fear was exposed when it mattered most.

Now plug in Syracuse basketball and we might be going down a similar path.

One positive...you know you're good when you beat the #11 team in the country who is your hated rival and you're disgusted by your performance.

Made me laugh but so true.

At this point, a win isn't just a win. We're not improving in areas that drastically need improving. We can't expect to win these rock fights forever, at some point lady luck is going to side with the other team.

More than anything I hope I'm wrong, but if this play keeps up we're a sweet 16 team at best. Good to see KJo playing like he did, we're going to need that to continue if we plan on making a dent in March--the guards are just too inconsistent to rely on.

We can whine about rebounding and all other weaknesses we want but no one seems to notice that we don't turn the ball over. That alone makes up for a lot.

Yes, but this isn't March. This is February when you are supposed to be improving areas of weakness. Coach seems to disagree vehemently.

The rebounding has to get better, but as someone with no control over that, I'm still enjoying last might.

I remember a mediocre Syracuse team in 2007 that destroyed Georgetown. That Georgetown team was exposed and went on to the final four.

If Georgetown was 5-15 they still would have given us a game.

I basically feel the same way.

People shouldn't discount beating your bitter rival in a year when your rival happens to be quite good

Do we have issues? You bet. Rebounding and half court offense have been issues for the entire year and if anything, we are getting worse on the glass rather than better. That said, I don't see much of that changing. We simply aren't physical up front, especially with the small line up.

It's all about matchups in the Tourney anyway and everyone has weaknesses; SU, UK, OSU, everybody

Strengths:
defense is in the top 3 in the nation
turnover margin is one if not the tops in the nation (we don't turn it over, they do)
we have one of the best shot blockers in the nation at the back of our zone
we have just about the most depth of anyone in the country
we have four guards that could start at most teams in the country, and guards play a huge role in the tourney
we have a hall of fame coach
we have more than one potential go-to guy, i.e. you can't just shut down one player on our team
we have two senior leaders
we have all-america subs waiting in the wings
we are recruiting and are considered to be in the top two for Nerlens Noel and have already signed Coleman and Grant

Weaknesses:
Rebounding

What did I miss? Just a little perspective for those looking for some lol

Last night we had 9 turnovers against 14 assists.

Every win is good and on selection Sunday they all help, by 1 point or 40. I realize there are many works to be done but when the day comes this one will look good in the books.

a W is a W. well like hawaii the destination is wonderful yes but the trip there sucked. the peanuts had seeds and the whole plane smelled like potato soup.i'm frankly amazed we landed in one piece. what i'll remember is a whole lot of skidding, foam and inflatable chutes.and you can keep the damn lei.

1. A rotation that has gone from 9-10 to 7 at best
2. Supposed to go to guys, we got a bunch, well maybe one...KJ
3. A guard rotation where each of the 3 have weaknesses that may result in an overall shortfall in the NCAA
--one is capable of making lots of assts and making lots of TOs
--one that cannot convert FT over 50%
--one that we believe is the Dude but has shot about 25% in last 3 games
--one that is not assertive; very passive offensively and has been missing 3s
about as often as the other two guards
--a deadeye wing, Dirty, who hasnt hit 30% of 3s in a while
--depth that seems to have disappeared...we now have a 7 rotation in meaningful minutes
Just saying...I still believe we can make the Final Four...but our act above needs to get pulled together...here are my "wishes for the team"
1. Scoop who has been terrific with assts cuts down on TOS
2. Scoop has someone at end of game to pass to that will make a shot
--his good asst count would improve a lot
3. Dion stop dribbling out front and go for the rim...isnt that what he is good at
4. Triche become assertive and play aggressively...being passive isnt helping the team
5. Dirty making more 3s...need this is big way
6. Melo and Xmas and Keita find a way to rebound more...lots more
7. Guards start getting more boards...had 8 this game
8. Every defensive effort full shot clock...too many scores at end

Now go look at the positives in above post...and we should tear down the nets in the FF

I shut my pc down last nite feeling good about a tough win against Georgetown and see this morning that somehow a gritty win is a sign that our hopes for a NC are hopeless. KJ had a huge nite and showed he is one of our leaders when we really need him. Georgetown really wanted to leave the dome with a win and played hard. We played far from our best game and have a lot of work to do, but WE won the game. I love to beat GT no matter how we do it and it can't ever be a bad win. I hope Patrick Ewing & JT II watched the game together and that it ruined their nite. Whatever our flaws, we have a damn good team that can win any game they play this year. As a coach or player I might be critical of our game, but as a fan I'm really glad that it's 8:55 and Georgetown still sucks. Thanks guys...

Why would we turn the ball over last night? All we did was throw the ball around the perimeter and chuck up jump shots...

Better to be us than NC losing to Duke at the buzzer or Missouri being dismantled in the second half by Kansas.

But if good teams kill you on the boards, you are a vulnerable team. Take the rivalry win, but don't sleep easy.

That's pretty much what we did against Butler and we turned it over 18 times.
