Okay - More Mail Need a Ruling From the Crowd

If you get a piece of mail that looks like it could be a card of some sort and appears to be addressed by hand, was postmarked halfway across the country, but is addressed to the prior owner of the home with no return address on it, what would you do?? Oh, and I've lived at this address for more than 30 years.

1. Open it and enjoy the spoils
2. Put return to sender address unknown on it and drop it off at the post office
3. As your local postmaster What the mailman is doing
4. Put it in your neighbor's mailbox
5. TRASH

I don't think I would do 2, 3 or 4 because that involves extra effort. I would probably do #1, and upon opening if it's a legit personal card of some sort, I would probably try and find out either the sender's or the old homeowner's address and forward it.

Chances are it's junk mail. My parents and my wife's parents are all deceased, and periodically we get junk mail addressed to them and none of them ever lived remotely close to here.

If its personal, it would be weird that the old homeowner would get something, unless someone didn't have their subsequent address and was hoping the PO would forward it.

My guess it's junk mail, but please update, unless you get arrested for opening someone else's mail.

I get mail all the time with my street address that belongs to one of my neighbors.

I've received so many credit card offers that didn't belong to me, I told my neighbor I'll take him for a ride on his boat some day.
