Offers to date from Toledo and Rhode Island. Huge frame.
Old Bridge is not a football power. Only football player from there I have heard of is the legendary Artur Sitkowski. Sitkowski had a crappy highlight tape, was rated accordingly but when Rutgers was again shunned by every decent QB in the eastern US, they ended up offering him. He of course accepted.
The RU fan boys bumped his rating to an insane level and raved about what a great find he was. He ended up being a horrible college player but was a great fit for RU football, retaining their long standing traditions with distinction.
Anyway, Long actually has a nice tape of his first 3 games of his junior season. He clearly has the size he is listed at. Very strong. Was struck by his nastiness. It is difficult to project the future of high school offensive linemen, but I find one of the biggest differentiating factor Is their level of nastiness. The ones that are really mean tend to be the most successful. Long is not a nice guy on the field and that is a good thing.
He is raw. Not very flexible. Plays too high. Runs like a bent over crab. But he is nimble enough to get to linebackers and his balance and footwork pass blocking is good. Looks like he took his bench press recently from 225 to 295 and that might have been enough to convince SU to offer him. His 500 squat and 595 deadlift are numbers you like to see from junior in HS.
Old Bridge’s most famous alum is probably Brian O'Halloran, who is most known for playing Dante in the Clerks movies. Nice.
