Yes, this drum has repeatedly been beaten but found an interesting site to try to rank OL performance.

According to this, SU is 127/130 for sack rate. We like to compare ourselves to BC and based on this ranking system, they are #1.

One of their starters, John Phillips, is a redshirt senior from Phoenix, NY. Went to CBA. His brother went to Syracuse.

Syracuse did not offer. I think BC was his one and only offer. Note that Dino and this staff were not involved in his recruitment. That one is on Shafer and his crew.

Wow, did not know that. CBA really?

Wake also has a great oline. Not a good recipe for the two games we think are our best chance of winning the rest of the season. Considering our defensive strength is getting pressure off the edge from our d ends.

I said this in another thread but how come we cant recruit OL like BC? Is it Addazio?
I think we recruit about the same. Meathead philosophy is entirely based on line developement, so I suspect they spend an enormous amount of time and assets on it. Meathead is traditional, and translates to traditional grading metrics.

Spread, tempo, scheme, etc. Often allow less developed linemen to be successful in College. The entire ACC line play is down, and I suspect its a balancing act based on some of those factors, and where time and assets are spent.

The balancing act can allow teams to play above their weight, and can translate into an exciting product. When it goes wrong? (This year's ACC) it's not always pretty.

Here's an article how the NFL views college oline play .

um...why are they a meathead offense? is a meathead offense a non spread offense that likes to run? They do run tempo just like everyone else and use TEs like many posters have been wishing for over the last 4 years. Dino also wants to run and imagine if we had AJ Dillion? we would ride that horse nonstop.

So you're saying they'd be even worse in a meathead system?

Yeah but we could have Jim Brown and he ain’t getting no yardage running up aa gaps all day with no blocking lol

They run a lot of man/power. Have to watch more to see if they incorporate ZBS. Not sure if I've seen RPO blocking from them.(linemen need to pull up short) Different principles. They're more based on traditional power(smashmouth push) we're more based on scheme. Different type of blocking.

Yes. The article I linked says college linemen aren't as schooled in traditional fundamentals. Spread, Tempo, allows lesser "traditionally" developed to succeed in certain college systems. BC is traditional, therefore they have to develop those things more than other schools do.(my guess, anyway)

Neither is wrong for the college game.

So do we have the 127th worst OL talent or is this a coaching thing. I can't imagine our talent is that poor and if it is that bad than what's that say about our player evaluation?
