Wow, did not know that. CBA really?

BC has had quite a pipeline to CBA to way back in the late 60’s. BC even had an award named after Syracuse native Orrie Scaminach, a CBA grad, who died young in the early 80’s, and used to be awarded to the MVP‘s of the SU-BC games.

To be fair, BC doesn't pass so much.

7 ACC teams are 94 or worse on sack rate. Pheww. I prefer meathead(line) so grain of salt. I wonder if the defense can manage to slow the spread, if it's simply freeing up assets to get after the qb? Spread teams usually dont have to face as many types of blitzes. ( my understanding.) Could just be a down year for acc line play, though.

So do we have the 127th worst OL talent or is this a coaching thing. I can't imagine our talent is that poor and if it is that bad than what's that say about our player evaluation?

It's development. There is a top tier of offensive line recruits that the big teams get but the majority of everyone else is simply recruiting guys with sufficient size, and decent agility, and then developing them. The top tier has the insane talent but the difference between the talent level of offensive linemen coming at of high school into Syracuse and Boston College is not that big.

Thanks, so did we get caught without building up our funnel this year? I saw another post that showed we've only been taking a couple of OLs for the last few years, based on this year and assuming the time it takes to develop it seems like that's not enough

According to site linked below, we're not only #130 this year in sacks allowed per game, but were 116, 113, and 113 the previous 3 years.
When it comes to Yards per carry, we're #125. Previous 3 years-116, 79, 58.
Penalties per game-127 this year. Previous 3 years-124, 84, 112.
Not pretty.

Its more coaching than talent. We are missing assignments, getting beat when we have numbers advantage. Running the same scheme game in game out. The staff playing musical chairs during training camp. Meathead isnt a style of play its a reluctance, a stubbornness against change. Or worse yet a lack of or ability to change. When it comes to our OL and overall offensive approach this year id say that our staff has been as meathead as any.

The backups haven’t even been given a chance. I get they must not look great in practice but anything is better than what we have.
