OL to DL?

Reading about Elmore and how nimble he is for 6', 280#; he just might be a real PITA for opposing OL in the trenches. Has the size and nimble feet. Hell, he would be much more utilized in this position of need rather than a battering ram in goal line, short yardage situations. OR...let him do both!

What if the staff didn't recruit him to be a DL because they don't think he has the skills to be an ACC lineman?

Well yes, thats obvious that they might not have, but they also didn't recruit walton to play DE , either.

Going to leave that to the coaches, but if they want nimble, maybe Ruff can fill the bill. As a former linebacker, he may have that type of agility.

Ruff is already all in as a DT. Has been for 2 yrs. Even with him, we are super thin.

I agree with this. I'm super confused why we are so adiment about playing him as a FB/HB? We are in dire need of interior linemen and someone with his size/obvious atheletisim would be a fantastic fit... or at least a good back up option if anyone gets injured.

Having that kind of "giant bowling ball" as a FB will do wonders for our short yardage game, I think.

Maybe he has no interest in it. It's not like a DE moving inside or a lineman going from offense to defense. Going from catching and running with the ball to playing DT may be a change he doesn't want. If the coaches told him they were going to recruit him to be a skilled offensive player, they owe it to him to give him a shot there before they ask him to move elsewhere.

I like the idea of having a uniquely sized athletic ball carrier on offense versus tucking him away as a space eater on defense. Guys that big with soft hands and good athleticism don't come around that often. It'll be fun to see what he can do with the ball in his hands.

Agreed. Kid is a dancing bear, and we can use some of that on O.
And I think that whether it be for blocking, or taking a quick handoff up the gut, or flaring out for a drop-off pass, he'll be another very useful weapon in short yardage and goal line situations.

Might also not have the temperament to be a DLineman I think that has to be considered

I would pick Duerig; he has that guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley toughness look. Attitude differentiates OLinemen and Dlinemen...

I trust the coaches. I believe they know how to set up and win matchups.

Yes, we are now desperate. FB is a thing of the past, a dinosaur. Give him a shot at interior DL and make him a modern day Fridge. Sounds like he is built like Sapp . Sapp made his living with quick feet at the snap and jumping gaps.

Or... the staff knows what they want from him and will have him do that.

Dino used a fullback at Bowling Green if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Used a FB/H-Back combo which is what I'd imagine Elmore as. See video below:

We're not suddenly going I formation. I expect Elmore to be running pass routes as often as he's blocking for Pierre (see what I did there). If he came here because he was told he'd get to play offense, I don't think you move him as soon as he suits up.

Did you happen to notice the LB they highlighted when introducing the BG defense?
