Over the past couple of weeks, I have wacthed the round of 32, 16 and 8 games from the last NCAA. Here are a couple of (obvious) observations:
1) really too bad that Maliachi is not coming back. Him at the 2G would be awesome and terrific to watch in an orange uniform.
2) it would be beyond wonderful if Roberson would play the entire 16-17 season like he played during the tourny. He was a beast, plain and simple. And I remember that he seem to have a half way decent 12 ft jumber towards the end of his freshman year. A return of the would give him definite pro potential.
3) Frank H had a great tourny too. Showed how far he had come over the course of the year. Make a nice sophomore jump and pg will be in good hands with him and Gillion board.
4) Would love to see Lydon play at least 3 years if not 4. Obviously no more comment needed.
5) What would the season been like if Cooney played all year like he played in the tourny. Looked so much more in control and some of his drives were fearless.

1) it will not matter. Battle will be just as good.
2) Roberson will be better because it's his last really good chance to get drafted into the NBA.
3) Frank H will be terrific.
4) Lydon will probably only play one more year. But who cares, he's been terrific for us.
5) <<nothing to say here>>

Roberson isn't going to the NBA, plain and simple.

Roberson does one thing really well, which will land you on an Nba roster most of the time, if he has a good year next year, he will end up on someones roster.

He does one thing well some of the time, not half he time, not most of the time, some of the time.

He's undersized, he can't shoot, isn't a great finisher, defense is suspect and he rebounds the ball sometimes at an elite rate, but only sometimes.

That's not an NBA player.

He has the size and body to be an Nba player, someone will give him a shot. Did anyone think Rak or G was an Nba player after their junior years?

Let's judge him after next season. You are judging last year Before the tournament.

#5 - we would have had a different NCAA draw, and likely worse result.

Outside of rebounding (again, inconsistent, what would grade out as competent as an NBA skill?

Yeah, I am judging him before the tournament. You're looking 5 games he played, I'm looking at three total years. I think the three years gives us more data.

He doesn't have to have more than one thing he is spectacular at, like I have said many times in here, if you can do one thing really well, you can make a roster.

I tend to agree with two3zone. Tyler hasn't demonstrated the consistency yet where I see him in the NBA. I think he has the potential to make it with his rebounding, but he'll need to play the entire season like he did in the NCAAs. I try to keep things positive but he still had several games last year where he wasn't much of a factor on the boards.

Tyler Roberson

Like I said, hopefully he can build off the NCAAs and be consistent this year. But until he does, I'm hesitant to say he'll be playing in the NBA

He's undersized at the position he would play. He can't play the three in the NBA. For his size that's his only chance.

Its a difficult thought that had he stayed we would be in solid ground as a candidate for national championship game sand maybe the winner. Now we are depending on another one and done in Battle with the hopes he plays well enough that he earns that ticket to the pros.

I'm mainly talking about the improvement he will make this year. He showed in the tournament what he is capable of and JB will NOT let him forget it.
Three years previous mean little when you talk ability to improve. But then again, I suppose you wrote off Christmas too.

Just because you've said it many times doesn't make it true.

It's great to make the Final Four, obviously. But just reaching that goal is not all that it's about. Winning in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the tourney is such an achievement, and the games themselves are so rewarding. Ultimately, it's the team's achievement. Afterwards, you can look back and recognize individual stellar performances that contributed to the victories. As well as everyone played, they put the goals of the team above their singular efforts. That's why we won.

Well, I'm not really sure how you know that, but , if malacai richardson is a first round draft pick I think tyler roberson can make it in the nba as well. Watered down? I don't know, imho mr is not a first rounder, guess I just don't know enough about nba, and if kids like this are the best they have Guess i know why i don't watch it much.

Actually I was a huge Christmas believer and knew what he was capable of which, but you wouldn't know that because it doesn't help your argument.

I never said Roberson wasn't a good player nor couldn't put up a great season. Playing well and playing in the NBA are two different animals. What position can Roberson play in the NBA? He surely can't play the 4 because of his size and he can't play the three because of his skill set. I don't know what's hard to understand about that.

I never said he was going to be Dennis Rodman, but some Nba team who has trouble rebounding is going to turn on the tape of the Duke game, and Say "Damn" thats impressive.

Surprised he didn't leave this year then.

Bottom line, he doesn't have a position to play.

If he puts up a couple of games like he did at Cameron, and in the Ncaa tournament, a team will find a place for him to play.

Roberson has a SF body playing PF. He gives you virtually no offense and isn't as big as a Tristan Thompson nor does he have as consistent a motor. I'd be shocked if he ever plays in the NBA.
