What do you think of this?

If it didn't say Tebow Time on the top, I wouldn't know what it was. Tecmo was a fun game - until Super Tecmo came out, which is still my favorite football video game of all time (and I still play it occasionally on my NES with my 13 y.o. son) - even more than the Madden franchise.

Super Tecmo was WAY ahead of it's time. They had full rosters of players and kept stats for an entire season. In college, we'd each pick a team and we'd run a complete season right to the super bowl. We probably finished 20 or so seasons. Had a trophy and everthing. Great game.

Tecmo Super Bowl... Best sports game ever!!! I must've played 50 seasons easily. My cousin and I played through entire seasons, as seperate teams, in a day and then face off in the super bowl.

Anyone else have any house rules with that game? We outlawed use of the Bills, Giants, and 49ers in heads up play since they had players that would randomly go into god mode.

TB and NE were dreadful in that game. Anyone else I'm forgetting on that list?

Not really "house rules", but things I remember from that game include...
- SF was unstoppable.
- People talk about Bo, but I thought Okoye was the best RB in the game, followed by Barry, then Bo.
- While it wasn't a rule, we discouraged friends from controlling the LOLB while on defense. If the player was All-Pro caliber, he was pretty much un-blockable.

Dallas was pretty dreadful on that list too because they were 1-15 the year the game was based on.

I laughed when reading your house rules. So true about certain players going into God mode. Bo Jackson could go into God mode at any time too, same with Barry Sanders and Derrick Thomas (RIP) of the Chiefs. There were games when you just couldn't call a pass play against the Chiefs b/c DT would sack the QB before he finished his drop back. I lost in some crazy ways against the CPU on the last plays of games. I even lost a Super Bowl on the last play after blocking a FG with a 1 or 2 point lead. The ball bounced around and got picked up by an O-lineman who shed tacklers like Bill Brassky en route to a TD. Ahh, good times.

One time my wife was away for a weekend and I played non-stop from about 10 am on Saturday until 5 am Sunday. I felt awful after that.

Okoye fumbled too much and got hurt fairly easily. That's why I liked that game so much - players would get hurt if you overused them.

There was always an open guy for 49ers (even if you called the same play on D). Giants could always block the kick.

Okoye and Tom Rathman were wrecking balls chucking players all over the field.

Bo and Barry were great but I had no issues with playing against the Raiders or Lions because their defense was suspect so you only have to stop them once. Pick one of the Jackson running plays on defense and play center field with a LB. Same with playing the Eagles (which everyone did in PA), just pick the QB Eagles top sweep everytime on defense.

SF was beatable IF you were the Giants or Bills. Chiefs defense were nuts as well.

TB was so bad because their players and plays sucked. I played a couple months back as them, since my buddy wasn't impressed with the 70-0 beating I put on him the game prior. Testaverde sucks, and their run plays are 2 runs up the middle, an end around reverse, and some standard run off tackle. Think I won 13-0

If there is a syracusefan.com Tecmo tourney I'm in.

LT was in the middle for their kick block I believe.

Mark Bavaro caught EVERYTHING. Nothing like seeing a pass 30 yards overthrown just to see him sky and make the grab.

We played entire seasons were you could only score on defense or special teams.

We could only player as the secondary in head to head because we masters the nose tackle position to the point where every play would be an auto sack.

Randall Cunningham was a GOD!

I am going to pat myself on the back and say I was nearly unbeatable as Super Tecmo Bowl. I probably have played more seasons and games than anyone. I used to play one whole season a day over and over and over again day after day after day. I loved taking the worst teams in the game and try to win the Super Bowl with them.

Way ahead of its time and by far my favorite all time video game. It isnt even close. The stats feature alone blew me away.

Who remembers having your QB drop back all the way to your own endzone in order to complete the 100 yd Hail Mary pass?

Hey...maybe that was Tebow?

Hell I used to do that. I remember I used to take a kickoff and intentionally get tackled at the 1. Then I would run or throw it 99 yards for a touchdown.

I also remember LT could block any kick. Literally any kick.

I'd take that challenge :D

That sounds like fun. Down it at the 1 yard line four times and go for the safety.

This, I don't believe.

Randall Cunningham was a GOD!

Except that he couldn't pass for shite - even on the 5-man button-hook pattern, which was automatic for QB Browns (Kosar). RC was fun to torment an opponent by sending all the WRs deep and then running for 40 yards.

This, I don't believe.

It's true. Tho it Depends on the defense. If you do a quick down or up (or side depending on your perspective) and then dive (a button if I remember)... The nose tackle would literally dive thru the oline and make the sack near instantly.
