Coach Williams has done pretty much exactly what his resume said he was gonna do. Pretty good blocking on pass protection and crappy at run game. We haven’t had a good oline coach since marooned guy who was the recruiting coordinator also. We have the guys to move people but certain coaches get hung up on rpo 3 yd rule when most of the time it never comes into play. Honestly if we run rpo your leaving 1 man unblocked on line which most times leaves 5 on 3 or 4 depending on how many they send. We should double someone and get real movement backwards into lb which if pass the ball should already be gone bye then. Our guys do not come off the ball and move los forward. It’s maddening. You have a power back who needs a yd or two for full speed and he does need to learn how to run head up at full speed. Movement on line forward gives him about 4 yds full speed and even no holes lets him get 4-5 yds. We need to be a power team as Fran says little beats small so why run a small guy blocking scheme and put hat on hat cause my hat is gonna move your hat one way or the other. Goal line is puzzling also as I would have Pringle, Washington, and spoon side bye side tight gap or ft to ft. Washington leads almost like a wedge and other pin down to his shoulder with know one getting thru and it’s a td every time. Big schools run power everything cause they can and until we can we won’t be one. Need to remove coach williams and get the old bc coach and pay him cause that’s the style we need. Smashmouth football. It’s truly a mentality and it carries over to everything else. What do u guys or gals think.
 
The team is 3-6 and we are moving assistants around 3-4 weeks before the season is over, what is the point other than the coaches being fired were not meshing well with Fran or other staff members? Would it not be easier for everyone to just ride it out for a few more weeks. We have one game left that we possibly could win. So strange

With all the head coaching changes nationally, there will obviously be a lot of staff turnover as well. Maybe HCFB is indirectly letting it be known that he is gonna be a player in staff recruiting as well(?).

I suspect (hope) he is getting a better idea of what he needs from his coaches at this level. He had to kind of throw it all together on the fly when he was hired, relying on personal connections more than actual resumes. Now he may be looking with more discerning eyes, both within and outside the program.

Honestly I think the run game is not given much weight in Nixon's offense. Pass first, run to get what you can occasionally. I doubt they spend a lot of time practicing run blocking. And as others have said, if the run game features a lot of RPO then the linemen can't simply fire off the line and start downfield.

Doug is the O line coach for the New England Patriots. I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon

They aren’t meshing with the players is the problem in the rb and wr room.

This would suggest to me that they may not be on the same page as HCFB as well. If HCFB connects strongly with players, especially those he has recruited, but that vision is not consistent within members of the coaching staff, it would be easy to see how problems could develop. In fact, it might explain a lot.

But they can think about it backerd come downhill and u aint driving a 320 dt 3 yds of ball and if u did ball shoulda been out already ya know.

If he’s firing them mid season that’s exceptionally bad and suggests someone who isn’t competent, isn’t implementing the coaches plan, is a poor cultural fit, has seriously violated a team or university rule or some combination of these. At first I thought maybe he was released to join the staff of a new head coach - there have been a lot of openings recently - but I’ve read that the wr coach was dismissed and didn’t leave of their own accord.

In any case, if Fran made a bad call he wasted little time correcting it. That it couldn’t wait until the end of the season suggests (to me) it was a cultural thing or bad behavior of some sort.
