having re-watched the UL game. there are some strange things going on that is messing up plays far more than just missed assignments is the sense a player is getting beat. multiple plays where they are not blocking players on purpose and the play is getting blown up. no way to tell if thats a play design or player mistake but strange to be leaving players unblocked on some of the plays when that players is right where you want the play to go..

I also think alot of the issue is the new technique where the are really run pass blocking with the RPO that requires much better foot/hand work. We have issues at both tackle spots with size/speed rushes that much is clear. But UL has a pretty good dline and speed behind it so it hid many of the mistakes that UL made.

we left plays on the field too. dropped balls all over the first half, a couple of PI not called, a fumble on a play UL never got lined up on and still got late pressure, no score from the 10 and a missed field goal. the underdog cant make that many mistakes against a team with better athletes. after the first couple

some plays make you scratch your head? the 4th down play middle of the 2nd. we went with a strange formation, ran out of a tight formation and had 3 WR and an extra tackle lined up wide at the last 2nd.. so 3 issues here. Dungey snapped the ball too soon before it got set, the LT tackle didnt attack the DE so the ball gets knocked down. But the big issue is where is the play supposed to really go. UL only has 3 go out to cover it so we have a man advantage on a 3rd and 3 play. the play starts and estime runs to the middle instead of blocking.. so my question is you dont run this play with 2 blockers into 3 defenders. someone blew the play. the extra tackle blocked air because he saw the man covering estime attack. either estime is supposed to be blocking and the play would have been an easy FD or probably a TD if anyone makes a block, or the play is really to estime at the first down chains play because he was compleetly uncovered and Dungey threw to the wrong read? major issue there.

earlier we went empty sent Moe out wide. UL runs a slot blitz and Dungey throws wide to Moe. that cant be the right read either. if you read the blitz and it was in his face so he has to see it then the throw has to be to hot WR in this case Etta, but he ran a double move from the slot going deep? it would make more sense if Dungey threw to Air since the WR didnt turn, but that didnt happen? it was really the same play Estime scored on earlier.

later in the 2nd still 28-7 game. we ran a screen. we had 3 lineman out in front and Etta had the tight corner. he lets the corner go to go get the LB/Safety the corner gets in the way, the throw is wide and play that might have done the distance gets zero. again play design? if the WR just makes a simple block you have a RB with 3 lineman in the open field. if the design expects the Oline to block the corner then the WR needs to sell the play to the outside to hold him but the WR runs a slow shallow crosss route that makes the corner follow him.

the game then went to 35-7 we go crazy and almost score 17 points on 3 mins to get back into the game. as bad as you can play on D in a half and might have been 35-31?

but can someone explain how franklin gets his helmet ripped off and gets a penalty 50 yards behind the play? we got formation penalty on a punt where we lined up normally. UL had the game under control and tries to keep passing late and almost let us score 3 times and get back into the game. just a crazy first half.

if we played this way next year i think score 35 in the half just on less controllable mistakes. cant imagine if we close to the level of athletes some day.
