Props to Justin for going. But is playing a safety with one arm the best recipe for success? Especially since he has to make so many tackles. Don’t we have some safeties with 2 arms that can step in? Gould? Farmer?

Led the team in tackles with 14.

That’s a lot of tackles. Tells me the opponent may have been running at you.

How many tackles did he miss?

14 tackles and seemed to make a bunch of plays. Not unprecedented to play with a cast on. Seemed to back it up with his play.

Running at a safety? Really? That’s a new one.

It’s only a “new one” if you don’t understand the role or the Rover in the 3-3-5.

Here are a couple of facts from yesterday.
  • 51 of his 95 snaps JB lined up in the box. We are not talking about “running at” a free safety lined up 12 yards away from the line of scrimmage.

  • PFF graded his tackling for this game at 48.6 which is a very low grade and by far JB’s worst tackling game so far this season. The 48.6 tackling grade was 8th best among the starters yesterday. Only Darton, Clark and McDonald had a lower grade for tackling yesterday.

On one hand, 14 tackles is really really good. Zaire-level excellent.

On the other hand, UNC’s offense had, I think, 97 plays yesterday.
In other words, a bunch of guys besides Barron probably had a lot of tackles.

EDIT: Just checked the box score. Justin led the team in tackles yesterday. Bellamy was second with 12. After that, the joy was spread to the rest of the team.

He let Maye escape a number of times. Doesn’t mean they were running at him.

When your DBacks lead the team in tackles that’s never a good thing.

He missed 3 tackles.

I understand just fine. My eyes also see what’s going on.

Barron was in the box so much because the front 6 couldn’t stop anybody running. UNC killed Syracuse on the ground.

PFF is wrong. Barron was one of the only defenders who showed up to play - with 1 hand to. Clark is another. Barron had 9 solos.

Barron and Clark had 20 tackles.

Thompson, Wax and Lowery - 21.
