is that one of our Defensive ends loves to crash down almost right of the tackle's ass and goes unblocked most of the time. He just takes himself right out of the play way too many times.
Virginia was successful on their jet sweep plays as the D.E. crashes down the line and there back runs right by him. He needs to a take a straight up and box out approach when he sees their back starting to run in motion down the line.
Either the back gets the ball or he becomes another free blocker on the edge while or D.E. is spinning aroung and becomes just a spectator on the play. He needs to nail their jet sweep guy to keep him from either running or becoming a blocker in free space.
I don't like to name names, but this is the type of play you normally see from a high school player.
Is this a scheme design? I don't know, but if it is it needs to change.
