The fact that you don’t know the answer to this question is a huge failure on the part of the program. So is there anyway to contribute solely to the men's basketball NIL?

And why do you assume that I think it will ALWAYS be this way? Granted it's rare, but I am sometimes capable of nuanced reasoning. Fact - It is starting this way. That's the mistake. I suspect they will quickly realize this and add an additional phase for targeting donations. Eliminate any potential obstacles from the start. Make it easier for every type of donor. And why do you think it will ALWAYS be this way?
Do you contribute to the new collective, That is honestly what we should be focusing on. While still certainly keeping previous contributions above and beyond. That is where we live. Feel free to place your thoughts about the importance of positive initiatives including volunteerism, continued academic and civic minded activities. Please do not think that it falls upon deaf ears especially if all donors are stating such requirements. We might not be able to definitively earmark certain things at the time yet coming in the future however we can state what is important and please do.It's likely not as dire as the Minaya data suggests. But everyone who was paying attention, and I do mean everyone, knew that there'd be year-to-year inflation.
The Front Office Sports piece I shared a month ago suggested that there'd be a roughly +25% increase in the budget necessary to assemble tourney team.
SU was on the fringe of what was necessary last season. I've tempered my enthusiasm about the supposed amount Gerry's hiring brought in, since all that seems to have done is put us on the fringe of what will be necessary for next season.
So many cooks in the pot, we have to realize we were behind. Without condemnation. There is a reason the other schools with huge donor bases still went after essentially the large whale donors right? Yes because there are so many power issues when it trickles down to lower levels. We must have accountability, however most importantly trust without massive complaining and literal massive bickering about how every detail needs to be done when we were behind in the first place. We must give the collective a chance.I really hope this is not indicative of Blair’s abilities. The idea and the messaging is a complete disaster. If donors want to direct where their money is being used, they should be allowed to do so. When you donate to the school, you don’t have to just write a general check. You can donate to whatever school you want to be at Maxwell, newhouse, Whitman or anything else.
People want to donate to get players via NIL. For the school to suggest you should just help the program by blindly donating to a coaches fund is presumptuous at best. I’m rooting hard for Bryan, but this is very concerning.

I'm not sure they intend to ever allow donations to specific sports. At least as of the announcement this morning. I think that's why they named is ONE Oranage Alliance. As in ONE for all. Not just Orange Alliance. Hopefully they will listen to their potential donors and change their minds. And why do you assume that I think it will ALWAYS be this way? I appreciate your candor. And I do not think you are alone and that is exactly why they typically cater to the largest donors. Couple your thoughts with a donor who contributes$100 and then starts screaming. Or someone who does not contribute anything yet comes onto a message board and becomes extremely disgruntled and blames the university for the system that was set. It is the current reality Something needs to be done or it's going to go away and the most massive benefits for college athletes and its effect on life and society. It got corrupted like so many other things today but complaining about it is not going to do anything. It's like a power trip for the sake of opening your mouth yet doing nothing. It will do nothing except cause frustration, harm, and discord. Most larger donors know these things even if there is fatigue. Stay a fan have fun and support the best you can. Maybe go to the games and have funI do not, and will not, contribute to NIL.
If a business wants to spend money for an athlete endorser that certainly can be a sound decision. There is ample evidence to suggest there can be a meaningful ROI.
However, I’m not paying players. If others want to then more power to them. I don’t begrudge anyone spending their money how they see fit.
It ain’t gonna be me.
