If not already stated, received confirmation by multiple sources that Dino got another of his requirements fulfilled - private jet service! Cannot confirm the name of the service, except by one forum user (he can post it if he likes), football staff is now using a private jet rental service for recruiting purposes! Huge upgrade that greatly increases recruiting efficiency!

Given all of the recent negatives, this is huge plus for Dino and his continued commitment to SU. Go Orange!

Good. AD deserves credit for this.

They still need to replace Tucker to get my donation back. I want Dino to succeed but the adminstration needs to make more changes along with this positive one.

The recent negatives were a message board version of the telephone game.

They flew a charter jet owned BHM-SCM services out of Orlando a few months back. Not clear what service it's tied to.

The dome announcements are on a fall timetable in conjunction with other campus actions. The locker stuff has a been leaked which seemed to be major constirnation this summer also
Honestly I don't think the locker room stuff is that big a deal.

We need them but I wouldn't complain about that and I am a person complains when I feel strongly about something.

The major negative right now has been the medical staff and their standard and procedures for DQing athletes.

They looked like high school when I was in high school. Not a deal breaker but whatever. As far as the medical staff goes we have a partial picture and to draw conclusions based on others emotions doesn't seem sound, but at a 30k foot view it seems like we can use an update.

This is great news! Thanks for sharing

I have seen at least one coach with the #WheelsUp on twitter so I am guessing "Wheels Up" is the private jet subscription service they went with. It is the biggest subscription jet service in US I believe so would not be surprised.

"Net Jets" is The other big private jet service but they do more fractional ownership.

Yep you got it. It's Wheels Up.. They looked into Net Jets and another one who were much smaller and based out of New Jersey I believe?? Ultimately they went with Wheels Up. The coaches love it.

This is what's so silly about the hand-wringing (which may or may not be justified): there's a lot of Syracuse-bashing by alleged Syracuse fans who are basing their hysterics on internet posts from a biased party with a history of emotional and often inflammatory posting.

This medical episode is the strangest thing I've seen on this board, and that says a lot.

If you read the information that Kyle Knapp's father and reached this conclusion okay.
He wasn't bias or emotional. His son was being mocked with false information and set the record straight.

Clark's dad has been transparent and has done a fine job keeping his emotions out of his son's situation.

Shy Cullen's parent comments were most disturbing because he confirmed there are more problems than have been said here. I mean fine have your opinion but to call the frustration strange doesn't like the proper word to describe what has happened.

I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the medical situation; I'm admittedly as ignorant as anyone about the topic (haven't met any of these kids, not qualified to offer any medical opinions, don't recall the Knapp dad posts, though I do remember him as a pretty even-keeled poster).

But such hysterical frustration strikes me as strange because (maybe this understanding is off) it seems to be based on second-hand information from understandably biased sources. Sources who don't, to the best of my knowledge, possess the same technical understanding as the credentialed doctors who make the decisions.

Put another way, I think you're an attorney. Would you be dismissive of people getting out the pitchforks because you issued a legal opinion that one of these guys criticizes by way of internet postings? Better still, would you find it strange that the uninformed criticism doesn't just address the opinion but also attacks your capability as an attorney?

I wouldn't rally behind that side in that scenario, and accordingly I'm taking all this medical DQ consternation with a big grain of salt, too.

This is 2 years old from former player Kyle Knapp's dad who transferred to Western Michigan.

Our family wanted to go quietly from SU, but this thread has my blood boiling. Kyle does in fact have parents, I happen to be his dad. Other than the obvious football stuff, Kyle and our family have had a great experience at SU. We've met a lot of great people - parents, faculty and fans that have welcomed us with open arms.

Just to set the record straight Kyle had 2 concussions - the "3rd" one that Tucker DQ'd him for was questionable -even Dr. Tucker wasn't sure about it. So no, he did not have anywhere near 7 concussions.
As far as I know, Dr. Tucker is a GP. He has the final say with regard to medical DQs. We asked and he would not allow us to get a second opinion from a neurologist or anyone else. In a phone call Dr. tucker said Kyle was done and that was it.

On our own dime we took Kyle to a concussion specialist at UPMC. He literally knew within 5 minutes what was wrong with him and he couldn't believe SU's people couldn't see it themselves. Kyle's eyes weren't converging which made him susceptible to getting concussions. 7 weeks of eye therapy later his baseline tests were back to normal or above. The Dr. At UPMC had zero qualms about Kyle playing again. neither did the other doctor we saw. Unfortunately, SU had already moved on.

Our family loves football, but we would never put his future at risk if we thought it was dangerous to his future. Kyle wanted to play for SU more than anything. I don't think he deserves some of the stupid crap in this thread.

At the end of the day it's about roster control. Coaches who feel they do not have control (in all things, not just medical matters) will not be happy - it's as simple as that. All coaches have their breaking point, and I'm not saying Dino is near his. What I am saying is on a concern scale of 1 to 100, I would make a large bet that he's not at a 1.

I hope the Knapps are doing well and hopefully everyone keeps in mind that these are real people who, unfortunately, are having some medical problems that are being speculated about in an open forum. That post is a good reminder that everyone should tread carefully.

On the DQ topic, that post doesn't seem to be a cause for concern. According to the dad, there was a difference in medical opinion between two credentialed pros. Hopefully Kyle found a good landing spot and is able to lead a healthy and enjoyable life. Hopefully SU prioritizes employing people who will conservatively assess medical evidence in first seeking to protect young people who participate in a brutal sport while also limiting the school's liability. Again, they've got experienced professionals making these personnel choices and we don't have to waste a moment of thought in second-guessing their informed decisions.

If 5 doctors and medical experts say someone is cleared to play and one General family practitioner doctor says the player should be DQed is that conservative assessment or covering medical liability for the school practicing?

Incorrect. Dr Stucky, Dr. Ewing, Dr. Kouides, the team doctor at WMU, and Dr DiFino, after consulting with Dr Kouides. It doesn't require an encyclopedic knowledge of medical science to simply repeat the statement "you're cleared" told to us by 4 doctors, and indirectly (DiFino) by one of the four.

And, just to let you know, WMU had another hematologist look at the findings from ALL the doctors, and Steven was cleared. So, 6 doctors, in total.

But, you keep thinking what you're thinking...

Think he was referring to Kyle Knapp, not Steven.

I'm talking about the quoted post, Mr. Knapp's experience.

well, this was posted before the Knapp post - so what was it referring to?
