Really? How many 4 star recruits do we have? Don't like stars? Okay. How many guys do we have that had multiple P 5 offers? Or do you believe that we are just so much smarter that other schools and can really spot talent. Complete B.S.. Where is the speed? Where is the power? We have so much talent but they can't cover anyone good. We have so much talent we can't block anyone on our lines or stop people on our d lines. Our qb's were recruited by everyone? No, they weren't. We don't have talent. Not talent that we need to beat good teams. We had talent in the 90's. Does the talent we have now measure up to that talent? Of course not.

Longisland I respect your opinion but the talent on this team while not elite is there to win 6-7 games.
Hickey,Trudo are solid OL foundation.
Philips, Tyson-Gulley, Ameen-Moore are serviceable RBs
West, Lewis, Ishmael are good WRs
Our defense with Crune, Thompson, Lynch,Davis,Eskridge, Reddish is solid.
Our QB play has been sub-par to be nice but this team isn't UConn and full of trash.

We have bad offensive coaches for assessing the strengths of our current talent. That are sticking round pegs in square holes and we have a HC who really looks overmatched out there. The only game I felt our coaching staff was the better was staff was against Central michigan who are MAC staff.
It sucks because Shafer has to get a 3rd year but it sets the rebuild back another year because it isn't going to get better next year. Beat case scenario is going 7-5 next year which I can't see happening.

The injuries aren't why we aren't a good offensive team. The injuries have made a bad situation worse. A D+ offense that is now a D- offense isn't saying much for the healthy offense.

Actually he went from the University of San Diego to Stanford. I couldn't tell you what league they play in, but yeah still hardly what anyone would call a "big-time" hire at the time.

I like Shafer, but maybe this team needs to be less hard-nosed and go study how Chip Kelly trains his teams. Might be time to sacrifice some toughness for some smarts, so we don't have to see so many injuries.
