Orange Bowl: FSU vs. Georgia

Glad to have that one wiped off the record book - sort of.

I think that Georgia's complaint: a two time defending national champion who was #1 virtually all year until their 29 game winning streak was broken in a one TD loss to Alabama in the SEC title game is excluded from the 4 teams playoff - especially when two years ago they lost to Alabama in the SEC title game, got invited anyway and won the title, is even more valid than Florida State's that an undefeated major conference champion should not be left out.

I've always thought that, lacking a comprehensive tournament containing all the legitimate national championship contenders, the tournament we have (4 team or2 team in the BCS era), should simply be something that should be considered in determining who is #1 but not by itself determine who is #1. The final poll(s) should do that. If a team that was left out and yet has a comparable resume to the teams in the playoff is more impressive in their bowl game, they should still be able to make their case for #1. Thus, when USC was #1 in both polls in 2003 but excluded form the BCS game by the computers, they should still have a chance to be voted #1 over the BCS game winner, (LSU), and be considered the national champion, (in fact, that's what the writer's poll did). When Auburn, the undefeated champion of the nation's toughest conference, was excluded in 2005, they should have a chance to make their case in their bowl game. And Georgia should still have a shot at a third straight national tile in the final poll(s) this year.

Next year, everything will be resolved on the field.

The interesting thing about the polls deciding who is national champ is, it would cut down on kids opting out. At least for the one loss teams who are in contention.

The other thing you could do is, cut regular season to 11 and have the playoffs AFTER the bowl games so kids don’t opt out. You’d still have some of it but maybe not as bad. Of course bowl games would have to be earlier.

I get it but it was an embarrassment and a black eye to college football and. the bowls in general
This individual game was not the embarrassment nor the black eye on college football. College football is giving itself the black eye with the lack of real rules or control.

getting beat by 60 (I know reasons) probably not the best way to accomplish that.
Has to crush the next TV contract for everything except the CFP. Can you imagine an NCAA tourney where some teams lose their two or three best players

The transfer portal should be after the bowls. And scholarships should be contracts with clauses to be available to play in all your team's games if physically able until the season is over.

We lost 45-0 to USF

The self awareness is astounding

The boosters, decision makers AD, etc. Not the players who played. The players who opted out did not care about the guys they hung out to dry. Bowl season sucks.
No, their team and culture are what sucks. Bunch of kids out for themselves Bunch of boosters full of themselves. FSU is a backwater school that has always been crap and will always be crap.
