Systems are great and I expect SU to eventually get better but IMO the Oregon collapse proved that the system is only as good as the players and their system broke down using players recruited to play in it. It is going to take a year or two to get the right guys in the right positions before SU can become what we all hope it becomes. Especially the "right" QB as standard QB evaluation measures probably do not mean much in Babers' system. SU's 2-star may flourish more than someone else's 4-star.

And am I the only one to enjoy seeing almost all "normal" traditional uniforms in most of the big bowl games. And almost all Nike teams so it can be done SU!!

I think it proves that players farther down the depth chart are not as good as the starters. The question for us is how many of our current starters fit the system well enough to win enough games to really build something recruiting wise.

I agree but they were only into their second string QB and he had started multiple games for them. I see posts on the recruiting side that seem content with what SU has at certain positions. The great teams are recruiting multiple potential starters at the same position every year. That's part of the reason you see SU still offering QBs.

Meh. Backups get much fewer reps. Really kills a system based on LOS reads.

Yeah I was definitely surprised their back up QB couldnt move the ball. It shouldnt happen at places like that where HS QB's are dying to get into that system.

oregon lost this game on a helmet to helmet torpedo target tackle. otherwise it's a blowout.
i guess the message it sends to college football is take the cheap shot and screw the penalty.

That was in no way a cheap shot. Past the line of scrimmage, the QB is a ball carrier nothing more. If that hit was on an RB you wouldn't say anything about it. Kid needed to protect himself for his team and he didn't, same as Dungey. Slide when in doubt.

Oregons defense has always been Swiss cheese. Its amazing they can't or should I say havent seduced blue chippers on the defensive side with all that Nike cash.

they had a 31 pt lead.. the D cost them the game as well as bad play calling.. oregon has always struggled when they #1 qb has left the system, more so than other teams like baylor.

We should all be learning this now:

More possessions = more points = crazy comebacks
