Oregon State fires Coach Robinson

What have they been doing for the past month and a half?

It does take a little courage for a public university to fire a guy when his brother-in-law is the President of the United States.

I don't see what his brother in law has to do with anything basketball-related.

Honestly surprised he made it this long at a BCS school with no winning seasons in the PAC12 and one winning season overall in his 6 seasons. Did he keep his job longer because of his relation to the President?

They have had 6 coaches since 1989 and not one has had a winning %, in fact Robinson has had the best record since then. (all were under .500) They haven't had a good program since Ralph Miller retired after his 18 year career there in 1989. The court is named after Miller.

OSU is suddenly no longer allowed to receive guaranteed federal student loans. Things that make you go hmm.

The guy did his job as good as his BIL is doing. The good thing is that he could be fired.

the lesson here is to be very careful in granting contract extensions. Robinson's original contract would have expired this year, but his AD gave him not one but two extensions - one following a 14-18 year, the other following the school's first 20 win season in years (21-15, bringing his 4 year record to 63-70). Because of those extensions, the school has to pay a $4M buyout to cover the three extended years.
