I don't have to tell you the AAC is having a pretty remarkable season...no they don't have Top 10-15 teams but they appear to have about 4 teams that are Top 25-35 good.

I've never had a problem with including the AAC and frankly the MWC into an upper division. Sure let the TV wonks figure out what they are worth...it will be much less than the P5 but I think 65 or so teams is too restrictive. I enjoy watching the AAC games.

What will stop the true Top 30 or so FB programs from trying to grab more money and create a mini NFL?

Thoughts?

Houston and Memphis are taking no prisoners.

I think the TV wonks figured that out.

No one is rushing to their TVs to watch Houston or Temple. If they become a MAC-like conference to breed coaches then groovy.

This...I haven't watched a second of an AAC game this season nor do I plan to do so in the future. Until they get casual fans to seek them out they will stay at the kiddy table.

if i am not mistaken memphis attendance is 10-15 thousand greater than su---i guess they have more casual fans than we do

they embrace being a 1 horse town with no life other than memphis st sports.

no pretentiousness and entitlement there.

And if we went 10-3 last year and were 6-0 this year, I imagine we would have quite a few more fans at tomorrow's game. They averaged like 8000 at their games before this run of success.

their attendance when their offense sucked in 2013 was 27k

shocking!

And Memphis I remember had about 4k show up for game about 5 years ago during a 1 win season...no correlation between winning and attendance LOL

Memphis is actually a Louisville in waiting...medium-large metro area with no pro football. The local fans really bandwagon behind a winner.

i guess winning cures everything

Yep. Two things against them. 1 - no one is interested in watching them consistently, 2 - everyone is interested in taking their coaches when the teams are good.

Without #1, those teams can't hold onto their coaches for #2.

im not sure what is being debated.

they are just as fickle as us with a lot more people

No way. P5 should break away and leave them behind.

It will never happen but what I would like to see is an 18 team ACC, B1G, P12, SEC which makes a P5 of 72 teams. Each conference would have three divisions of 6 with the divisions leaders playing for the conference title (best team gets a bye). Then you have a Final Four. It would be easy for the networks as well. ACC is split between NBC/ESPN, B1G/P12 is split between FOX/ESPN, SEC is split between CBS/ESPN.

Also it makes scheduling easier. You play 5 division teams every year. You rotate 2 games vs each division, meaning you play everyone once every 3 years. That gets you to 9 conference games. Since you broke away that leaves 3 OOC games to be played vs other P5 (now P4) schools. You can schedule those however you want. For instance SU could chose 1 B1G opponent, 1 SEC opponent, and 1 P12 opponent or could play 3 B1G opponents. Bowls no longer require a .500 record since teams are playing all 12 games vs P4.

maybe, but Syracuse/Binghamton/Rochester is nothing to sneeze at.
