OT any bourbon or whiskey drinkers?

It's been a couple years but when I visited BT, they didn't have much for sale. I hope you do better.
Supposedly they rotate Blantons, ER and wellers which are the ones I’m after. I have a bottle of Eagle Rare I found in Florida and Buffalo Trace I found in Maine lol. But they are unicorns to find in Virginia unless you win a Virginia ABC lottery.

When I was there last month you were allowed unlimited Buffalo Trace at somewhere around $26 I think. Then on our day it was a Taylor day so wife and I were each allowed 1 bottle of it.

What time did you get there? Do I need to get there by 8? I’ve heard they don’t typically run out until around 1

It was like a random Tuesday and I believe we signed up for the free Taylor tour for somewhere around noon or 1. It definitely wasn't early and you can go into the store before or after your tour. There were plenty of bottles of Taylor available when our tour was done. So as long as it's a weekday and there isn't something incredibly rare showing up then I don't think you need to be that worried. Definitely sign up for a tour a couple days before. They're free and are pretty enjoyable. The Taylor tour included tastings of Small Batch, Single Barrel and Barrel Proof. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

Have you ever won the VA lottery? I stopped trying as no one I know has ever won it.

Not yet! A golfing buddy of mine won a bottle of Blantons so I foolishly keep trying.

Not that most people need a reason to celebrate.

Just returned from Louisville and Frankfort. Had no problem getting two Blantons, two EHT, two Wellers, and a BT. Didn’t bother with ER as I already had some. Also stopped at Peerless and had a nice time there as well as Bardstown.

It wasn’t a hit three distilleries in a day type of trip as 1) I was driving 2) I can’t handle that much bourbon anyway and 3) my wife can handle even less than me.

It was a great trip save the drive through West Virginia on 64 through Charleston. It’s pretty much a pit of a city although the people are nice.

Now to crack open a bottle.

Win them at lottos at my favorite bottle shop in 2023 I won a 10 & 12 year gifted the 12 year and drank the 10 year. Last year won the 10, 12 & 15 and never opened them. Just picked up the 20 year today …
It’s funny because its not the best I’ve had but I’ve only had 10-12

Honestly best bang for my bourbon is Woodford Reserve Double Oak … very very good for the price.
It’s funny I stopped drinking in December….its been a long 5 months. I miss this the most

I stopped last August … I only have an old fashioned or two when traveling on business

Just had to revive the thread. Lately starting to check out some moderate priced bourbons. Taking any suggestions under consideration. Recently tried and enjoyed Knob Creek Kentucky Straight 9 yr, and Breckenridge. These may be on the lower end of moderate for some of you. I have a few others that I would like to try after reading some earlier posts.

My go-tos lately are Four Roses single barrel, 1792 full proof, and Russell's Reserve single barrel. All are under $60. Knob Creek 9 year is a good pick and the 12 year isn't worth the price. The rum cask and wine finished Breckenridge bottles are good. I wasn't a fan of the plain one. I think the boom is winding down, and I'm looking forward to better prices and availability. The rarer, allocated bottles are usually released in NY around the end of September
