Good news--If the Orange can get the travelling FB-base as motivated as the rambling Orange of basketball (and lacrosse) fame, SU can take over some of the ACC venues.
Nobody should be surprised. When you schedule a Bethune Cookman, or a Stony Brook, attendance will surfer. I can see the casual fan asking, "What is Stony Brook? A prep school?"

It's not entertainment man! Why? It's not like SU or UM are the only teams scheduling an FCS school. Fans go to watch their own team play regardless of the opponent. If they dont show up, it means they don't ewant to see their own team play.
It's not? Then what is it?It's not entertainment man!

Hmmmm. It is for me. No matter who SU is playing. It is for tens of thousands of Michigan fans...regardless or the opponent. Ditto OSU...Alabama...And on and on. Either you want to see your team, or you only want to see "big games.".

I'm atypical. I watch all SU games. But, I'm not Mr. Average casual Fball fan.I'm not sure you get College Football.Nothing personal-you're not alone. It's passion. There's only about 22-27,000 people around here that get it. If it's entertainment you want, then hang out outside the dome where the guy plays guitar and makes up songs for the fans coming in.( I love that guy)
You're absolutely right. The BIG and SEC get it (probably to a fault). The northeast, west coast and Miami are definitely pro sports regions.I'm not sure you get College Football.Nothing personal-you're not alone. It's passion. It's really nice having so many people willing to tell you what kind of fan (or non fan) you are. I love SU sports, but I love my family more. Football games are an event, not a way of life for me. If you happen to be in a marriage or relationship that includes sporting events as something the family does together, great! I can absolutely see where the tailgating and games become part of your life. Unfortunately, it's not so simple as that for everyone. Condescending remarks about raking leaves, mowing lawns, and the like serve no purpose but to polarize fans. Going to more games doesn't necessarily make you a better fan. Who's the better fan? The guy who goes to every game, leaves early when they are losing, boos the players, and curses out the coaches, or the fan that goes when he can, cheers from the opening kickoff to the end, and supports the team the best he can, given his means and level of vested interest. For me, I'd rather have 1000 of the second than 3000 of the first type.
Bottom line for me is that fans that judge and criticize other fans because they don't fall into their own definition of being a fan are not helping.
I don't disagree at all. It is life down there. but only for football. Other sports don't enjoy the same level of dedication, but we still get compared to those areas as where she should be. That is just never going to happen. I do believe that when SU gets rolling again (and it will), if they bring "name" teams to the dome, we can average 40k.That is the typical northeastern look at college football. In most of the south it's their life passion. Not saying one is right or wrong just that it's the way it is. We as a whole are more pro football orientated.
