The box score for last night's semi-final doubleheader said 15,194.

When was the last time the old BE didn't have a sellout for the semis?

What happens when 3 of the 4 semi-finalists are not original BE teams?

How long does the BE contract with MSG last? Are there any outs?

So much schadenfreude! The Big East aren't the bad guys in this story...cough
Nobody is the bad guy. But, that league, as currently constituted, is going to have trouble holding on to MSG. That fact was first pointed out to me 2 years ago at the old BET by a longtime Villanova fan.

The other half of the BE, the AAC is even more embarrassing. There were a handful of people for the early round games.

And its at a random home court. I understand MSG is kind of St Johns home. But having it at UConn is just flat out embarrassing.

And unfortunately it seems like it is going to get UConn in the tourney. And God knows they have Boatright which means he will probably be the next Kemba/Shabazz and lead them to some unlikely title again. It is starting to drive me nuts.

I read somewhere that the Big 10 is going to be in MSG next year the week before the BET. Can somebody explain how this is going to work.

What do you want to know? You seemed to explain it pretty well except that I don't think that it's next year, but the year after.

The BIG will have their tourney a week earlier than all the other top conferences and the Big East will have their regular slot. Not sure if they're going to keep a game or 2 in reserve to play during championship week or just take that whole week off. Could hurt their bubble teams with the whole out of sight, out of mind thing.

Going from finishing their tourney minutes before they announce the brackets to being the first (or almost the first). Also when they talked about playing the week before, there was something about playing 8 games all at once at the beginning of the season. (conference season?) Any understanding onthat.

Maybe 7 in a single day, like the new BE on New Year's Eve?

That just screams of desperation. If I'm a B1G team, I'm not cool with that arrangement. I want the ACC to get MSG but not a week early.

Barclays center is just across the river. 20 minute train ride from msg and great bars and restaurants.

It's not the same. I want to go all Mean Girls and say "Stop trying to make Barclays happen, it's not going to happen". It's a good venue but not MSG and that's all that really matters.

Of course its not but its a pretty good replacement.

But the ACCT isn't the BET either, so the ACCT in MSG isn't going to be the same either.

Wow that's bad. MSG management can't be happy with that.
I wonder if the rumors about an out clause for MSG for poor attendance are true.

Hoping things develop where the ACC tourney in Brooklyn is a huge success, while the BET attendance drops to record lows as the combined effect of MSG hosting the B1G the week before and Barclay's hosting the ACC at the same time as the BET really hits the BET hard.

I think their numbers are destined to get worse as the B1G and ACC descend upon New York. They are going to lose the casual basketball fans and only bring in the fans of BET schools. Not good for them.

My prediction is that the ACC will take MSG for its tournament by 2021. The BET will find a home in a smaller venue that they can fill, where they can recreate some of the excitement back when they were the best conference in the country. It is a win for everyone, except the B1G.

If the ACC is foolish enough to want to still play sometimes in Greensboro or other southern venues, maybe the B1G and ACC rotate the MSG slot, 2 years for the ACC, 2 for the B1G, 2 for the ACC, etc. I suspect the ACC is not going to be able to commit full time to MSG and I suspect the B1G doesn't want to do that either. Could the two conferences work together for their mutual benefit?

It sounds crazy. But just maybe it will happen. A lot will depend on how well the B1G and ACC do selling tickets for their NYC tournaments. I think it will not be a problem for either of them...

I have nothing against the BE, but I certainly wouldn't mind the ACC Tournament rotating into MSG.

I think for the Big ten wanted to get into MSG any way they could. (It's 2018, I could have sworn it started next year). If the Big Ten gets in there the week early and sells the place out for the final 2 or even 3 days, that proves to the Garden they can do it and maybe gives them some leverage to into the final week, which I'm sure is where they'd want to be.

I think that's what the ACC is hoping to do by sucking the air out of any hype at the Garden going head to head with the Big East. It will be interesting to see attendance figures and Stubhub prices for those two years.

UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Virginia all have some cache that trumps Nova, Georgetown and St. John's.

I'm sure the ACC is going to be a much tougher ticket.

On a side note, I went to the A-10 semi's on Saturday and they didn't even have the second level of seating open.

From my perspective, Brooklyn is the end of the earth. Unless you live in the city or on Long Island (where you can use public transportation), Barclay Center is not an easy place to get to (Even worse than getting to JFK for those in the northern NY suburbs or CT because, after dealing with screwed up highways and bridges, you have to drive through unfamiliar, confusing Brooklyn streets). And the subways to/from Manhattan don't always work late at night either. Plus, once you get there, there is nothing to do... when compared to Manhattan.

As one who lived in Brooklyn for several years, I have been very happy having never to go back there. (Okay, maybe it is partially because of the guy I was married to at the time... but even without that, I have zero enthusiasm about driving to/in Brooklyn).

Seriously, from where I live in CT, I think I would rather drive to Syracuse.

I won't disagree on the drive. But you need to go back to Brooklyn. The area around Barclay's is ok on its own, but the adjacent neighborhoods are awesome for bars and restaurants. It will be even better in 2017 as the Barclays area is built up even more.

Barclays is an easy trip from anywhere in Manhattan and is 15 minutes from Wall St. and a half hour from midtown.
