OT: BET attendance

From my perspective, Brooklyn is the end of the earth. Unless you live in the city or on Long Island (where you can use public transportation), Barclay Center is not an easy place to get to (Even worse than getting to JFK for those in the northern NY suburbs or CT because, after dealing with screwed up highways and bridges, you have to drive through unfamiliar Brooklyn streets). And the subways to/from Manhattan don't always work late at night either. Plus, once you get there, there is nothing to do... when compared to Manhattan.

As one who lived in Brooklyn for several years, I have been very happy having never to go back there. (Okay, maybe it is partially because of the guy I was married to at the time... but even without that, I have zero enthusiasm about driving to/in Brooklyn).

Seriously, from where I live in CT, I think I would rather drive to Syracuse.

There are about a dozen subway lines directly beneath Barclays Center. It is easy to get back to Manhattan, even past midnight. If you were going to drive to Manhattan, you can park way downtown and take the subway two or three stops to Barclays. I live about 11 stops from Barclays (or five via the express). If you still don't want to go, I would volunteer to take your tickets.

I think that's what the ACC is hoping to do by sucking the air out of any hype at the Garden going head to head with the Big East. It will be interesting to see attendance figures and Stubhub prices for those two years.
The key for the BET is to have a good St. John's team most years that makes a deep run. While their fan base can't fill the entire building by itself, they can fill 60-70% and then the other schools'can make up the rest. If St. John's is not good, BET attendance is in trouble.

way off base on just about every comment you make.

the barclays center is outside the atlantic terminal which pretty much every subway line runs through. the bdf, the qnr, the 123, the 456 and more... the hours of operation are not any different than anywhere else on the subways.

if you havent been back in awhile, which clearly you havent, you really have no clue what is around the area or not. some of the top rated restaurants in the city are located there. ill name them if you want.

regarding driving, to get to brooklyn from manhattan, you go over the manhattan bridge, which is free, and drive down flatbush. you dont even have to turn, not even once. literally go straight off the bridge until you get there and its maybe a mile past the bridge.

the extra subway ride from CT does suck, but that sounds like a you problem. its about a 20 minute ride from midtown.

I know it is easy to get there from Manhattan, and I said so above. In case you have not noticed, there are no subway lines in CT.

i hear you, but the rest of your comments are still offbase, and that being your only complaint is a bit silly. the worst part of it is the building itself. it doesnt have the history. it isnt lit up the way the garden is. the sight lines are different. and the upper deck is scary. however, all the things you complain about are really fallacies or non-issues for the majority of the people.

The box score for last night's semi-final doubleheader said 15,194.

When was the last time the old BE didn't have a sellout for the semis?

What happens when 3 of the 4 semi-finalists are not original BE teams?

How long does the BE contract with MSG last? Are there any outs?
As mentioned in an earlier thread, the BET sold out completely for the last 8 years Syracuse was part of the conference. They have had a disastrous turnout the two BETs post-Syracuse.

The New BET contract with MSG runs to 2026.

There have been rumors the contract has outs for bad attendance but I have also read it was 'iron clad' in favor of the New Big East. I would think that means MSG can't break it under any conditions. But I am not privy to any inside info on this.
