Yeah, Griner at best would be a decent men's D2 player. Probably more likely to be a good D3 player.

Just to put it in perspective, and this is referencing someone I know I probably shouldn't on a Syracuse board, but I grew up playing with Taylor Coppenrath, the former Vermont star. Vermont isn't exactly a power, but he's still playing professionally internationally. He would score 60 points on her, without question. She would never be able to hang with even a men's player at that level, let alone any "good" D1 talents.

Who the cares if they are as "good" as men or at what level. As a father of two daughters who played HS sports and went on to play in college, I love watching women's sports, way less attitude. I also like watching D3 football, and don't think, boy they aren't as good as whatever. It's sport and competition, and I love watching men or women compete at something they enjoy and care about

Actually, I use my visual perception to observe the deep voice, the male like features etc. more than "intelligent people know" theory. I have no issue with anyone's beliefs, orientation, or thought process in the slightest. So unless you have looked in the pants or seen scientific testing, you do not know, with certainy, either.

She may, in fact, be a woman but you cannot deny that there is some extra testosterone floating around in her system at least.

I also love how people get offended at another person's observations. I find that very interesting.

I don't want to continue taking this off on a tangent so this will be my last post on this.

It's a misconception that the WNBA does not/could not compete against men. It's not true. They scrimmage against men all the time. It's becoming the way that many WNBA franchises put together sc.out teams. Take a look.

I find the WNBA players vs mens college/HS players discussions facsinating for whatever reason. Some of the first hand experiences in this thread seem pretty telling if true. I've never played against high level womens or mens players so really don't have a barometer to judge by aside from that. Of course I'd never given it any thought until these threads started popping up either :noidea:

BUT to point re: the link you posted, did you look at the men they have scrimmaging?

One is a ~40, out of shape guy that played in the NAIA in the early 90's . One played in high school and the IBL and is the teams events manager. One is an attorney that played in high school. Doesn't say whether or not any were exceptional or not just that they played. I'm not sure they fit the narritive in terms of WNBA players vs lower level college/upper level high school boys. Pretty sure D3 players and high schoolers would mop the floor with that group as well.

This kind of leads to my next question of "why don't they have more accomplished basketball players practice against them?". If they mopped the floor with these guys it wouldn't make much sense to practice against them.
