I just assumed that all football in Canada was the 3 down version. Apparently not. Many areas are converting to US rules in high school.

Finally, could Syracuse support a team in the XFL/CFL new league? The Dome having A/C is a game changer.

Don't you need a field that's 150 yards long?

110 yards plus end zones in the CFL. But the new league... we'll see if they are going to play in the US.

CFL end zones are 20 yards deep.

Unless XFL teams will still use NFL dimensions.

They could have different rules for different leagues, like baseball. CFL shouldn't change their rules. I could see the xfl open to 20 yard endzones, but our football stadiums wouldn't fit their fields. They also use 12 players a side, and the defense has to line up 1 yard off. That's a pretty big difference...

I guess the CFL had 3 US teams, mid 90s. I presume Canadian rules.

OX, you made me curious about the 20 yard end zones. Doing research it appears the CFL allowed teams to shoehorn in as best they could the field. Many of the American fields were not exact.

From Wikipedia:

(This is kinda wild about the Liberty Bowl)

The Liberty Bowl was not as well suited to the Canadian game, as the stands were very close to the field of play, making it difficult to reconfigure the field to CFL standards. As a result, even with the addition of AstroTurf cutouts to widen and lengthen the field, it was still narrower and shorter than all other CFL fields, including other US fields which were not regulation. In order to shoehorn even an approximation of a Canadian field onto the playing surface, the end zones became half-grass/half-Astroturf pentagons that were only nine yards long in the middle and seven yards long at the sidelines. CFL rules call for a 20-yard end zone, and no other stadium had end zones shorter than 15 yards. The stands jutted into the corners of the end zones, creating a clear safety hazard. In addition, the Liberty Bowl grounds crew had marked the field with 33 inch yards.[3]

The Dome would be very poorly suited for a Canadian field. The extra 10 yard field would start pushing a regular endzone into the stands.

Agreed, the only way to host is if they can play with a normal configuration

CFL also relies on the gate for survival. A Syracuse L'Orange team would almost certainly struggle. While a Monsieur Eric Le Dungea leading the way might develop some interest? What was our attendance for the 2019 spring game? (After a 10-3 season.) And that's WITH Tom Coughlin, Larry Czonka, and Floyd Little in attendance. Crowd was still just the size of a decent high school game.

Only if it can be the Syracuse Orange Jays.
