OT--Christian McCaffery with an incredible performance in Rose Bowl tonight

That's the first full game I've seen him play. He's unreal - definitely lived up to the hype if not surpassing it. Interesting point about the express back - I think you're right.

Jesus, 270+ all purpose yards and a touchdown . . . Insane.

Agreed.

Also the first player in Rose Bowl history to have 100+ rushing yards and 100+ receiving yards in same game. Truly magnificent performance.

I have a feeling that he is what Lester envisioned with the Express Back concept.

How many times this year did SU throw to a guy coming out of the backfield? For all the talk about match-up problems, we didn't seem to have Erv line up in the backfield and run routes.

He really is Barry Sanders-esque

Musberger mentioned in the first half telecast that he wears #5 because he idolized Reggie Bush as a player. After watching the game tonight, I understand why that is a legitimate comparison.

Not that I am putting Moe Neal at McCaffery's level--but from his film, the player Neal reminds me the most of is Bush, as well. Here's hoping that he has half the collegiate career that McCaffrey has had. If so, we landed a helluva player.

But I digress--easy to see why this kid finished second in the Heisman balloting. Talk about an impact player.

McCaffery just had arguably the greatest season by a skill player in the history of college football.

If that's what Lester needed to make the express back work...

I certainly didn't say "...that's what Lester needed to make the express back work" -- I was referring to the concept of having a multi-purpose dual threat who could line up anywhere and excel as both a runner and a receiver.

It's amazing to me that CM is a 19 year old true soph! Imo, he is easily the best player in college FB.

Broke the single season AP record set by Barry Sanders FFS and didn't win the Heisman. Henry fell 600 yards short of Barry's record for rushing alone and won it. Little bit of Bama Bias there.

EDIT: Henry Rushing 2061 yards, McCaffrey Rushing 2019 yards alone.

Kid got jobbed, way more fun to watch too.

McCaffrey was Reggie Bush esque this year. He was awesome any of the final 3 could have won the Heisman. I actually thought Henry got it thru hype. He was good but he was not the best player in CFB this year.

However, McCaffrey should have stopped his post game interview last night and told the kid over his shoulder to . As that kid needed to be punched in the face for constantly chanting Heisman. It was really annoying.

How about this stat for McCaffery: There were only 4 games this year where a player had more than 240 all-purpose yards in a half. McCaffery was that player all four times. No one else did it even once.

Didn't know who he was until yesterday (Family) he is incredible Hope he doesn't end up a Patriot
Elway will draft him if I could bet on one team getting McCaffrey right now. RBs don't go high in the draft these past few years and Cook/Fournette will be above McCaffrey on the draft board IMO.

That looked like a 40-year hanger-on.

BTW, can someone tell me what "productition" is? The interviewer apparently thought it was a word.

That was one of the few things I could still laugh about at that point since I was pulling for Iowa. She apparently does have a sense of humor about it.
