Hey Jason, you might want to give Curtis Samuel a call for further comment on Urban Meyer's recruiting methods.

I wonder if (actually hope that) that Easley has Samuel's ear. He doesn't sound like a satisfied customer.

Vulcan eyebrow raise.

How did Urban Meyer get Dominique Easley to come here? "You ain't never gettin' that outta me."

Sounds like probable cause to me, NCAA. Oh wait.

This is the stuff the NYC kids/Northeastern kids need to know and hear. Its not all rainbows and lollipops down South.
If they think walking across campus during a northeast winter sucks, they need to think about running drills in the south in august.

The DO should seek out EO during Clemson week to see what he has to say about his new diggs

I've lived in Gainesville . The heat and humidity are brutal, just brutal!

I don't know about every SEC city, but I can say Knoxville is one of the ugliest cities I've ever been to.
Don't get around much, huh? Tell me the 10 cities you've been to that we're less ugly. Knoxville is beautiful. I'm not from there, didn't go to UT. I've been to several college football games there. It's beautiful. I don't know anyone whose been there that thinks it's ugly.
Been to Syracuse? How about Albany? How about Rochester, where I'm from? how about Buffalo? How about Philly? Cincinnati? Cleveland? Houston? Birmingham? Macon Ga?

It's one of the prettiest SEC cities. Lexington KY is nice. Gainesville ain't great. oxford is heinous. Columbia Missouri sucks. Fayetteville AR is horrendous. USC is in Columbia, SC which is God Awful. What dear God is the basis for your ridiculous opinion?

Ive been to Knoxville also for football games. Great people, great crowd, but beautiful wouldn't be the word I'd use. I guess the recent "Ugliest" campuses list would agree.

A lot of SUNY schools on that list too, along with a ton of other NY schools and our buddies down in Piscataway.

Are you talking about the city or the geography near the city. My guess is, since you've been to some games, you're talking about the UT campus and the nearby mountains (the Smoky Mountains are roughly an hour away, and you can't see them from the city). I agree that the mountains near Knoxville are beautiful, but the city itself is u-g-l-y once you get away from the UT campus. You could also be confused by thinking the area of the airport is part of Knoxville. It's not. That's Alcoa/Maryville which is a very nice area and within view of the Smokies, but it's 15 miles away. Any city that brags about the Sunsphere as their signature building doesn't have much to brag about. When it's not winter, I'll take Syracuse over Knoxville everyday. Onondaga Lake Park is nicer than anything Knoxville has to offer. Of the cities you've mentioned I think Philly, Cincinnati, Buffalo, and Rochester all look better, with the little time I've spent in them. I agree it's not the ugliest of the SEC cities, Columbia, SC is indeed awful, but that's not saying much, considering the competition. Chattanooga is nicer, and my wife, who went to Auburn, says Birmingham is nicer too. I know a number of people that have come into town to visit friends/family and were surprised at how ugly Knoxville is. They couldn't believe that so many strip malls could be in one place. Next time you come for a game, I'll show you the rest of city.

You just did the same thing you criticized dbbq for. I lived in Macon for 16 years. It is hot as hades in the summer but it is overall a very attractive city with many parks and nice neighborhoods, and also some areas of urban blight. All large cities have very attractive neighborhoods and some not so attractive.

I like Old City with its bricked/cobblestone streets with bars and restaurants throughout. I like Market Square and free concerts there. I like that Knoxville has a river flowing through town and the Boathouse is a great restaurant on the river. The football stadium itself is beautiful to me with all the brick. Great place to see a game. Parking is a pain in the ass in Knoxville and I agree there are tons of strip malls on the interstate nearby, but I wouldn't go there except maybe to get some take out bbq.

I suppose that's where our opinions differ. I don't care for the old city. I like market square, but they haven't done the free concerts the last few years because the businesses felt they hurt business more than helped. The water ways don't impress me. I think the variety of water ways in CNY are better, and there's better access. Knoxville has a park called Lakeshore. It would probably be nice if chain link fence and dense vegetation didn't block the view/access to the water, and it's next to a sewage treatment plant, so it smells if the wind blows the wrong way.

Almost like Onondaga lake park ... except there is no chain link fence and the vegetation isn't as bad ... but man that smell ... whew.

That's too bad about the free concerts. I haven't been to Knoxville in several years, maybe 5-6.

Eh, that's exaggerated. I've been there when it smelled, but it's not that often or that bad when it happens. It certainly isn't waste treatment plant smell.

I think It's been the last 3 that they haven't had them. They still do movies at night from time to time. That's a different atmosphere though.
