Didn’t see a better thread for this.

I’m watching this game, and it’s incredibly obvious how substantially better these teams are than what we’ve had on the court for several years, especially this one.

Guards, wings, bigs…. All of it. High level intensity, up and down action, physicality inside, good sets to free playmakers.

The SEC is so far ahead of the ACC (generally speaking), it’s hard to even believe.

I remember when we played this type of ball but it’s getting harder and harder as the years go by.

Can’t wait to be back to this…… hopefully.

These teams are not that good. FL seems to have better athletes but if this is Top 10 cbb, we don’t have too tall of a mountain to climb.

Watching Alex Condon, one of the bigs for Florida, have a great night. He is from Australia. Im imagining that maybe our Aussie recruit can be a solid player as well. I know Im grasping at straws trying to find something to be optimistic about for SU. Other than that, its just depressing how much better both teams are compared to us.

Kid had a game. Impressive.

Lol we’d get annihilated
We might but they aren’t impressive. Lots of missed shots and turnovers. I tuned in thinking that I’m gonna see a high level of hoops but that wasn’t the case. Of course it’s better than what we have but this isn’t impressive. Our 2003 team would steamroll these teams..Kansas too.

ACC used to have the best coaches and best players. If you watched the timeline first, the SEC started buying the best coaches, then once they started paying the best coaches, they were prepared for the NIL and started getting the best players. They started getting the coaches first, then the players. Coaching and systems matter to players at that level. They want to see themselves playing at the next level, so playing NBA style of basketball. Fast paces open three point shooting etc... ACC fell behind in coaching and style of play in a big big way...

Money and biggest bag matter to fringe NBA players or players like Eddie who wont play at the next level and need to make the most money they can. The players in the SEC know they will get the cash and they need to have a path to NBA.

I mean…. Okay I guess

Plus decent coaching, imagine that.
Better players make better coaches. That POS Hurley won two natty, not because he is a great coach, because he had great players. Less talent this year, back to the same old POS.

Maybe we were watching different games. It was a high paced game with lots of possessions yet the two teams combined for only 16 turnovers. While neither didn’t really shoot the 3 well Florida shot 49% and Bama 47% overall from the field.

He’s a super athlete with a great feel for the game. He can really run the floor. Let’s hope he and Fennell are best friends or lost brothers at birth and he follows Fennell to SU.

Better players do make better coaches…but your bias really shows when you say Hurley is a POS coach. NBA teams don’t generally go after POS coaches - I’m going to bet the experts in the field understand Hurley’s skills better than you.

It’s important because there’s an idea here that better players will magically fix all of our issues. It does not fix the fact that Red is objectively terrible, with substitutions which make no sense and no coherent game plan ever. Better players will make Red slightly better - but it’s doubtful he will ever be anything more than a bad head coach.

The are 21-9 with 5 Top 25 wins. Don’t know about you but I’d take that in a heartbeat.

Mississippi squeaked out a win in a good back and forth game with Tennessee last night.
Did a nice job getting good shots against the vaunted Tennessee defense.
Tennessee center Ankara has gotten a lot better since early season.

The players are bigger stronger and faster. And the pace and sets are superior. Very impressive.
Our strength and conditioning has been a weak spot forever. We've obviously had much more talented teams in the past, but even in 2003 I remember how much more muscular Texas and Kansas were than our guys.
