I would be very grateful for just a few minutes of your internet time.

As some of you know, I'm involved with a new website for Parents that is due to officially launch soon. Before we go live for the world we want more members and activity.

The site is www.FriendsForParents.com

Its a non-romantic matchmaking website for Parents (making new mommy-friends, daddy-friends, playdates, etc.)

You will notice the logo/site colors are intentional (Go Cuse!)

If any of you would be willing to join and fill out the questionnaire it would be much appreciated. It costs nothing, and only takes a few mins. If anyone wanted to go further, they could create an "Orange Parents" type Group or post something in our Forums.

If it turns out to be something you like, I'd appreciate your sharing it with others who may as well, inc. spouses.

At the very least, it would be awesome if you would like of FB page: https://www.facebook.com/FriendsForParents

Thank you so much in advance.

To the Mods: I hope this blatant "help me" thread isn't way against board policy. If it is, I apologize. If it has to be removed, so be it. If there is any chance it could stay in this forum for a bit, then get moved to the OT Forum I would love it.

I know I'm probably asking way too much but I hope I've been an asset as a poster in my sort time on the board and also:
1- Today is my Birthday
2- My dog passed away this week
(both of those are sad but true facts)

I believe you are definitely an asset as a poster.
Sounds like a great idea for a site!

Happy birthday and I hope you have a great one.
Sorry about your dog, I love them and we've lost a few great ones over the years. But I hope you remember the good times!

hmmm most of my kids friends mothers do not look quite like the ones pictured on the site. . . . . . . . that's probably for the best though.

Its an good concept especially if one is wary about where their children are and whom they are with. It's unbelievable to me that in this day and age my daughter can invite a handful of 8 year old girls for a sleep over and some parents will call in a yes when they have never met me or my wife. We won't allow our children to go to their friends houses unless we have met the parents and feel comfortable with them.

Link has been sent to my wife BTW.

Good luck with the venture. We recently relocated to TX, and I could see a service like this coming in handy. Although our kids are active enough we usually build a network through sports, schools and church. So I think your demographic is going to be younger couples in a new town, and those who have a very specific need to build a niche network, such as special needs children, home schooled, or other unique traits to share with others of similar interest. Again, good luck.

Is that Trey from Phish, or yourself? I sat with Phish on stage at a little dive bar in Albany about 1988 as they were warming up for one of their early tours. He has carved out quite a career since I met him then.

thanks, and thanks for allowing this thread

as an FYI, if you or anyone else in charge here wanted to promote this site on mine we would not only allow it but encourage it. if you are looking for more SEO backlinks, another place to recruit new posters, etc. please feel free.

when we formally launch soon a large portion of our initial members will be from syracuse, currently living there (or near) or have an SU connection.

very accurate. to kind of quote a blogger more eloquent that I, our goal is to become the non-romantic Match or eHarmony for the sippy cup and stroller set. Other target markets are exactly what you described (parents who have recently moved, families with special needs issues, families with specific interests, etc.).

And that's Trey. I may bleed orange but I'm not a ginger. When I first met Jon the drummer, he was about 6. He's come a long way too. Never got to be on stage with him though :(

bump...just because there should be some additional activity on this board today for some reason...

I haven't seen the site yet, but judging by your original post it appears that you are encouraging parents with young children to join.

I would think that parents who have gone through the child rearing phase might have something to add...no?...or would that encourage meddling in laws :)

Hope the site is working out.

having some issues with the FB connect (FB's issue with their API) so we have delayed the formal launch until we get it corrected, but thx for the kind thought

the site is build for all parents

that said, our expected "bread and butter" are parents of young children, first time parents and parents who have recently moved

I wish you the best of luck, and from what Ive read it sounds like it could be useful. Good thinking on the link swapping for SEO. Happy belated birthday too!

On a less serious note, on a recent episode of TV's "Shameless", a father was using a parenting site for some advice with his twin babies. If it's good enough for Shameless, it's good enough for real life!
